Worried I may be pregnant

I cannot believe at 35 years old I'm having to write this, but I'm freaking out.
My period is now 6 days late, I've taken 3 tests all negative. Over the last few days I've been feeling like I'm coming on and getting all the usual symptoms I get. Being extra hungry/thirsty a bit moody and snapping alot, however nothing has appeared. On Monday I had dark brown discharge when I wipe which has continued, I do have Dc but cannot for the life of me remember if I had any implantation bleeding and what it looked like.

The main reason I'm worried and the worst thing of all is I'm not sure who the father would be Blush I slept with the guy I've been seeing for a few months a few days after my last period and an ex who was just there at a time I wasn't feeling great and had, had a few drinks the week after.
I am using contraception so my periods are usually always on time.

If you're six days late, a pregnancy test is most unlikely to be wrong, and if you're on contraceptives and have had three negatives, it really is even more unlikely that you're pregnant.

It's not unusual even for regular periods to have the odd cycle where they go haywire. Mine are regular but once or twice I've had something like this.

See the doctor if you're worried.

Jipterjames · 31/03/2021 18:53

Are you on the pill?

Tobebythesea · 31/03/2021 18:59

I doubt all the pregnancy tests are faulty.

Happinesscomesfromwithin · 31/03/2021 19:00

Had something like this a few months ago with spotting. Just a weird cycle.

Have you by any chance had a covid jab recently? It seems to be playing havoc with some women's cycle.

AmelieTaylor · 31/03/2021 19:05

Have you had the Covid vaccination?

Couldbeuptheduff · 31/03/2021 19:20

Yes I had the covid vaccine last week and had some bad side effects.

OP posts:
Jipterjames · 31/03/2021 19:21

@Couldbeuptheduff yes it will be there. Please do read my comments about the pill.

Couldbeuptheduff · 31/03/2021 19:33

@Jipterjames I've definitely been bleeding at the same time every month and have been on the pill for over 5 years.

I'll see if I can get into the doctors at some point this week.

There's a thread here which says the vaccine has been affecting people's cycle. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/4169932-Menstrual-changes-after-AZ-vaccine

@Jipterjames whatever you want to call the red stuff that's been coming out my of my vagina for the last 25 years, is neither here nor there. its not coming out at the moment when it has done regularly but not like this.

I've been using various types of contraception since I started having sex, so am more than aware of what they do and don't do. I have never once had a pregnancy scare or missed a period been late, the only time I have never used contraception was when I was planning to conceive my dc.
So again thank you, but I'm not a child.

Garlia · 31/03/2021 20:11

Repeated negative tests are unlikely to be wrong but it may definitely be worth getting a blood test done, but exactly as a PP has said, the vaccine may have affected your cycle. Hope you get the outcome you want OP.

Pay no attention to that poster, they confuse themselves even writing a cheque so I'm pretty sure they're not entitled to be so patronising to you. Flowers

Thank you @slashlover I'll have a look on there. There wasn't anything on the leaflet they gave me about periods but will have another look.

@Garlia Haha I know I just saw that thread, it doesn't bother me. I do hope I'm not as I really do not want anymore dc.

@Jipterjames some progesterone-only pills don't suppress ovulation very effectively for some people.
Taken from the NICE CKS:

•	Progestogen-only pills (POPs) have five independent modes of action:
◦	Suppression of ovulation — this occurs in varying degrees (97% in women taking desogestrel and about 60% in woman taking levonorgestrel [Norgeston®]).
◦	Suppression of mid-cycle peaks of luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone.
◦	Production of 'hostile, blocked' mucus, resulting in poor sperm penetration.
◦	Reduction in the number and size of endometrial glands and inhibition of progesterone receptor synthesis in the endometrium, preventing implantation.
◦	Reduction in the activity of cilia in the Fallopian tube.
◦	POPs prevent conception (even when ovulation is not suppressed) through various combinations of these mechanisms, with great inter-individual and intra-individual variation.
Jipterjames · 31/03/2021 20:24

@Ethelfromnumber73 doesn’t matter. The aim of the pill is to stop ovulation so the woman puts her ovulation on “pause” so she doesn’t get pregnant.

Couldbeuptheduff · 31/03/2021 20:25

@Jipterjames it says in my OP how long it's been. If you really want to go there, you would know there have been many woman who have fallen pregnant whilst using the pill and other forms of contraception, nothing but abstinence is going to protect anyone fully.

Whatever bleed I get I still get it every month at the same time and I also track my periods/bleeds and have done for many years. So yes I am late, if you really have nothing else to add or want to continue being argumentative and patronising, then please do jog on.

That's not how ALL pills work

And surely the salient point is that if a woman gets pregnant while on the pill, she will fail to bleed/have a period/whatever she wants to call it.

Stop being so bloody semantic.
