It ruins chocolate.
It ruins icecream.
It ruins everything.
Aibu?

I may ok then I won't start a marzipan thread.
I love it but would never give marzipan chocolates to anyone if I wanted to remain popular.
Salted caramel is something I resisted trying for a long time as I thought it sounded foul but one day I gave in and now I love it.

Sundances · 30/03/2021 12:47

I love it but assume makers add salt to make the sugar more intense then add more sugar to counterbalance the salt - not v healthy.

ExhaustedFlamingo · 30/03/2021 12:48

I hate mint. I don’t understand why anyone wants their chocolate to taste like toothpaste.

Bloody love salted caramel.

I’m not really sure this comment really contributes much to the conversation 😂😂😂

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 30/03/2021 12:49

I liked it at first, now apparently there's nothing left with just normal caramel, so I've grown to hate it.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 30/03/2021 12:50

Mint chocolate tastes nothing like toothpast!

SwedishK · 30/03/2021 12:51

You see, I hate caramel, but love salted caramel. Especially in chocolate. I'd be a lot slimmer though if it was banned. The thought of it tasting like a sick toddler does put me off slightly, I must admit.

StrongerOrWeaker · 30/03/2021 12:51

I really like it. Send it my way!

Jennyennidots · 30/03/2021 13:05

Seeing as we’re branching out, I LOVE mint chocolate.

Dontjudgeme101 · 30/03/2021 13:08

I hate it too. Just nasty!!

ExhaustedFlamingo · 30/03/2021 13:14

Mint chocolate.

There should be a trigger warning for this thread.

Bloody wrong ‘uns.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 30/03/2021 13:20

Some of its nice, some of its not, but it's easy enough to avoid.

There are things I don't like but I'm not suggesting they're banned as some posters are here. Bonkers.

JovialNickname · 30/03/2021 13:28

Salted caramel is horrible. Lovely soft sweet caramel ruined by the addition of horrible salt. I'm not a picky eater but it's the one food I can't stand!

MeanderingGently · 30/03/2021 13:33

Yes, truly disgusting stuff. Just recently I bought a pack of hot cross buns, only to get home and find they are salted caramel flavour - yuck! And I'm supposed to be on a reduced salt diet too. Who on earth eats salted caramel hot cross buns?!

Fortunefavours1 · 30/03/2021 13:34

Yabu. But you know what? It's ok, nobody's perfect.

merryhouse · 30/03/2021 13:35

I really thought I'd like salted caramel, but I hadn't taken into account that when you add salt it intensifies other tastes, so the caramel is really sickly-sweet.

It's a shame, because the concept is great.

BrilliantBetty · 30/03/2021 13:36

YANBU

SmallPrawnEnergy · 30/03/2021 13:41

YABU to think anyone cares or that it should not be a flavour of things
Agreed. And it’s always fucking salted caramel that people start umpteen threads about. We get it.

I never understand the “mint chocolate tastes like toothpaste” comments either. Any food with king in tastes nothing like toothpaste. I only assume they don’t brush their teeth because they don’t know what toothpaste tastes like.

SmallPrawnEnergy · 30/03/2021 13:41

Mint*

violetmonster · 30/03/2021 13:43

Or a toddler with a bad cold

You must stop eating toddlers, bad colds or not

Clawdy · 30/03/2021 13:43

I love it so much that my DIL bought a salted caramel themed hamper for my birthday present! All delicious apart from the salted caramel coffee!

whenthebellsring · 30/03/2021 13:53

I love salted caramel.

It improves chocolate.
It makes icecream taste better.
It improves everything, even coffee.
YABVU and deserve to be banned from MN.

ExhaustedFlamingo · 30/03/2021 14:13

@SmallPrawnEnergy

It was a joke.

Because both things are mint hence the wild generalisation.

Never mind. You got me. I never brush my teeth. You’re absolutely right. Well done.

You don’t understand why I equate mint chocolate with mint toothpaste. I never understand why someone wants to ruin something that tastes perfectly nice with mint, so there you go. We’re both equally confused.

JackieTheFart · 30/03/2021 14:56

I agree - to me it’s like those combinations that are supposed to marry really well but that just take like two random things together. Like peanut butter and jam.
