Boarding school

Really Interesting reading others views. My DH went to cathedral school from age 6 and to boarding school from age 11 (with suggestion from parents at 11 that it was the best for his 2 younger sisters to stay in their private schools. Their brother was automatically sent to board. His sisters were never sent to board). His family moved 3 times and did not tell him.
My DH thinks he had an excellent education (he did) particularly his musical education. I think his childhood was shite. His sisters had a great time at their schools. They think DH did too.

His childhood sounds horrible.
Is he really happy with his education or is he just saying that as a cope?

I don't understand what you're asking here

You say DH thinks he had an excellent education (he did) particularly his musical education. I think his childhood was shite.

Surely both can be true? It sounds like his education provided stability and sheltered him from a pretty shit family life.

Yep, sounds pretty shit to me. I'm not a fan of sending children away to boarding school unless their home life is really disrupted and chaotic, in which case they might benefit.

This is a post from March???
That's so bizarre. I'm not sure about anyone else, but for me it just showed up as a new post on AIBU. Confused

I don't know why it matters as long as DH is okay with what happened?

My MIL went to boarding school, had a positive experience, and a family friend always insists on talking about how evil they are and how awful her childhood must've been at the dinner table. I'm not sure why people are so keen to challenge others own feelings about their own experiences.

Was he a chorister? He will have chosen to do that for himself. Most children love it and the musical education, as you've said is fantastic.
