I haven't seen this film in years.

He has an affair with a mentally unstable woman and she proceeds to stalk him.
He breaks into her flat and looks through her things.
He forces entry and physically assaults her.
He murders her.

And his wife forgives him, and they live happily ever after.

Sorry wickedwitch 😳😂

WickedWitchOfTheEast87 · 29/03/2021 00:46

@LBnc2021 no need to apologise. It was your comment that you'd beat seven shades of shit out of him for the trouble he caused that did it for me 🤣🤣. I have this image in my head of the wife actually doing that to her rather shocked husband! Is it bad that I'd love to see that ending on screen rather than the one where she hugs him? 🤣🤣🤣

I'm trying to remember what the original ending was. I think glenn close committed suicide and managed to frame Michael douglas for murder?
The mistress is obviously a metaphor for hiv. It's very much of its time,

georgarina · 29/03/2021 05:24

He also forces her to get an abortion doesn't he?

I thought the message was to be careful - he did something risky and immoral in having an affair and paid for it.

I agree OP and I'd also heard there were second ending as per a previous poster. It sticks in my craw that he gets away with it and is apparently welcomed back into the family fold when it's all his fault, if only he would've kept it in his pants. A load of misogynistic shite.

As for Passengers, it's an interesting one. I've just rewatched it and I'm honestly not sure what I would've done if in his case if I was condemned to a life of loneliness onboard a 1000ft metal cage for the next 90 years, something which they try to convey but don't really go into much too depth about. There are so many more interesting themes it could have played on and instead of exploring those, it settles for a straight up romance/action story which satisfies no one and leaves more questions than it answers, not least how a journalist gets to be a gold star passenger on a journey to a planet where practical skills will be in demand. It has all the depth of the most shallow of shallow puddles.
