Easter lunch outside

Hi
Sorry for AIBU but couldn't find a more suitable area with decent traffic.
Looking for food / meal ideas for next weekend in the garden... Sister & family coming one day and parents the next day. Got a patio heater & throws so hoping I can get a few hours with my family.
I'd usually do a roast, but DC says it's too formal / faffy for outside but have offered no solutions. Any ideas please x

You could cook it inside and take it out?

Or set up a slow cooker with lamb tagine or something??

BBQ

Or buffet party food

actiongirl1978 · 27/03/2021 18:46

We are doing a bbq with homemade lamb burgers. Easy to eat, no faffy salad or anything. Brioche buns.

A nod to Easter, outdoor cooked. Goes OK with champagne (an important anniversary).

BigSandyBalls2015 · 27/03/2021 18:46

I'm doing similar and thought lasagne/salad ... could be eaten on lap easily enough. Or pizza but that seems odd on easter sunday! Not sure why though

actiongirl1978 · 27/03/2021 18:47

And we are putting a heated blanket on the outdoor sofa for parents to sit on

Mumdiva99 · 27/03/2021 18:51

We are doing a lamb shoulder either on the bbq....couscous, sweetcorn, salad etc or a roast....although if too cold (like today)my parents can't sit out for long so then they will.come after.lunch for tea.and cake.

We looked into this as well but decided against a formal roast as I think food would cool down too fast, to fussy with all the side dishes.

If we go ahead then I think we will do steaks, burger or kebabs on the BBQ (we did a BBQ for NYE) and a small table with side dishes like salad, bread and veggie I do on the hob. Easy to eat but still fun.

BoJoHoNo · 27/03/2021 18:53

Chicken wings, corn on the cob and a simple salad or some variation on bung some party food in the oven.

tiredmum2468 · 27/03/2021 19:12

I'm going to lamb tagine in a slow cooker with rice in rice cooker - extension lead to under gazebo services in a bowl with crusty bread

Superstardjs · 27/03/2021 19:27

There's a couple of threads on this in Food and Drink as I type.

GoWalkabout · 27/03/2021 19:28

We did warm turkey sandwiches outside at Christmas. I like the burger idea. But personally I am going to do afternoon tea instead.

DenisetheMenace · 27/03/2021 19:30

Big lasagne (stays hot for ages, even outside), bowl of salad, garlic bread. Ice cream.

Presumably you’ve not seen each other for a while. Food is secondary.

Orangedaisy · 27/03/2021 19:32

I’m thinking lamb kebabs, falafel, flatbreads, olives, halloumi, hummus and salad. Loads of it as we’ve not been able to have all the extras as the kids don’t eat it so big packets would have been wasted. Then DD’s birthday brownies (from last month in the freezer) for pud.

Marmite27 · 27/03/2021 19:34

Chinese buffet here. We have several heated throws and heated buffet servers from Aldi so we’re all set!

helpfulperson · 27/03/2021 19:41

Hot water bottles are good for keeping warm.

Time4change2018 · 27/03/2021 19:56

Thanks all.
Didn't think to look in Food & Drink 🙄😳

I was thinking slow cooked pulled pork in brioche buns with roasts with a hot pud & custard for my parents.

Heated throw is a good shout, think DC has one from uni 👍
