I am 5 months postpartum and have still retained all the pregnancy weight/not lost/maybe gained a few pounds. I know people may say its still early days but I have had 3 children and after each one I lost the weight within 3 months. Decided to take a private thyroid test as having trouble getting to the clinic.
Results are attached.
I am more concerned about the antibodies as it reads really high. However, I sent this over to my GP and he didnt seem bothered at all! He said apparently 3-4% of people have high thyroid antibodies but it doesnt affect the thyroid. It just confuses me as I dont understand all the TS levels etc? He also said he would test me again but not treat it, didnt mention the weight gain.
Ive also been suffering from extreme constipation since I fell pregnant and still am! Surely, this shoulr go away now 5 months postpartum?!
I would say I am generally tired and fatigued but having 3 children im sure this is standard.
My mum also has thyroid issues but only since she hit menopause, she is on levithyroxine (sp)
Again, mentioned all this to GP but he didnt comment on it which is really frustrating. I am concerned about the weight as I am very active and it would make sense if thyroid isnhaving issues.

Can anyone please shed some light..I have no knowledge on thyroids etc, been googling it but really confuses me! Confused by all the levels etc. Has anyone who has similar results struggled with weight?

Thank you

There is a thing called postpartum thyroiditis - which tends to present 4-8 months postnatal and resolves in 9-12 months so may be worth asking the doctor about that (if hypothyroid it's often not treated and just rechecked in a few months

BTW I lost all the baby weight within 6 weeks with my eldest two children, not so much with the third and even worse with the fourth - nothing to do with thyroid, I'm assuming it was me being slightly older and my body getting fed up of yoyoing up for pregnancy and trying to snap back
