Fucking mouth ulcer

I don't get them often but when I do they wipe me out. Headaches, sore eyes, swollen glands, it's like they make me genuinely unwell.

Dp doesn't get it, says its 'just' a mouth ulcer. What causes them? What even are they? Why do they make me feel so bloody awful?!

Am using mouthwash daily but I don't rate any of the topical ointments like bonjela or igloo they just make it worse. Anyone else suffer badly from them? I feel like I have permanent headache until it starts to get better and am taking paracetamol 4 hourly.

Anbesol liquid - apply it with a cotton bud.

I found mouth ulcers kept showing up when I was run down and stressed.

Have a look at Natrasan. Works for us every time

@AndAllOurYesterdays

I have always suffered with mouth ulcers. It turns out they are part of an underlying autoimmune issue so worth getting them investigated. In terms of treatment, ambesol liquid is great for numbing the pain (but hurts like hell for about 10 seconds). Zinc supplements are also meant to work.
Can I ask which autoimmune disease or is it more to do with something like untreated coeliac's causing a B12 deficiency which once the coeliacs is under control the body can absorb the B12?

DD has always suffered with ulcers. A year ago she was borderline B12 deficient with a number of symptoms possibly as a result. Started taking supplements and levels went up a bit but the symptoms have persisted as have the ulcers. Checked the toothpaste after reading this thread but it's SLS free. Other countries have a much higher threshold for normal B12 levels and i've read its possible to have symptoms at levels below 500 although a UK Dr is likely to ignore if within UK normal levels.

I'm at a bit of a loss - there are a number of autoimmune conditions in the wider family. It won't be coeliacs in her case - she was tested last summer but does have PCOS which seems to have an association with autoimmune conditions.
