How many DAMN times do I have to tell DH that you have to take out the fluff from the filter in the dryer because it’s a major fire hazard before he actually does it? It’s been 13 years of us living together. 13 years of me saying this.

Is it just me who has a partner with selective hearing?! Please tell me your stories to make me feel not so alone! I love him but he’s a total pain in the backside sometimes!

@Thedutchessofhastings I totally appreciate that he dies at least use the dryer! He has shrunk a few things (so long merino knit jumpers) but he does try!

@SimonJT well quite 😂

Lazy entitled wankers come in all varieties OP, so don't put up with it. Then maybe our children won't have to.

Plenty of bachelors and gay couples manage just fine. Besides that, honestly I think of the two of us it would be me that struggled most with house stuff if DH suddenly vanished. He's more domestic-minded.

Sorry OP, you DH is just being dumb - can't blame his sex!

Some would die. Most would get by and learn not to exploit the unpaid labour of other human beings. Some are already clued up and doing their bit so it would make no difference to them.

My OH thinks radiators have the magic ability to dry clothes. Not without the central heating on they don't! He finds replacing a lightbulb challenging and doesn't know one end of a screwdriver from another. I sometimes wonder how he got to his age without basic knowledge of DIY / household chores.

I just lightheartedly broached this with DP, who is fairly good around the house, and read out some of the daft questions and suitable responses.

He became a little defensive, but very good naturedly so, and we have had quite a laugh, but interestingly, his theory is that it's one way of starting a conversation / interacting and including me in his life.

I don't know how I feel about that.......

Admittedly I have never emptied the tumbler filter as the cleaner checks it 😂

Lollypop4 · 25/03/2021 21:07

My father would'nt!
He would honestly have to hire a cleaner every day, use the laundrette weekly and would survive on take-aways and microwave meals.
