To really not want to take a taxi during COVID

I know there are bigger problems!

But my car needs to go to the garage for a few days and I’m still required to be in the office. Going to have to take a taxi but feel super nervous about it 🙁 AIBU?

I've got a taxi once over the past year (also car in garage situation). I wore a mask but the driver didn't and spent the whole journey coughing. There was certainly no screen or anything of that nature. Given the fact that she was working with a pretty bad cough I had to assume she'd gone for a test and come back negative and I haven't knowingly been ill but I have to admit it was a pretty uncomfortable half hour! Anyway OP I don't think YBU to feel nervous but if there's no alternative (rental car, bike, WFH) then it is what it is really and statistically you will be absolutely fine.

I can't walk far or drive so I've used taxis regularly for appointments( including to and from Vaccination) There was a plastic screen and both driver and myself were masked and windows open
I used sanitizer before and when I got out and paid with cash, accepting change
I felt safe at all times, so
Please don't overthink it

Wear a mask and open the windows. It’s not worth stressing about. I’m kind of glad I’ve kept taking public transport throughout this pandemic, it’s stopped me getting worked up about this kind of thing.

My husband has been taking a taxi every day since September.

He was much more likely to catch covid from the 20 odd students at a time in his class than the taxi driver behind a screen.
