To want the house to myself sometimes

DH is working from home.

I am finding it really intense sometimes as he never leaves the house! He is constantly there and I feel a bit stifled tbh.

So we are looking to move and I want somewhere with an annexe or at least a separate part of the house - AIBU? And how to suggest ‘nicely’?

I know how you feel! DH started WFH last March, and with 2 teens as well, I think I can count the hours I have had the house to myself since then on one hand! I have worked from home for the last 10 years so really not used to sharing. Moving not an option for us 😁

We converted our garage last year to a "guest room" with a bed settee, TV, console toilet It's been such a help during lockdown, one or two nights a week either me or my oh retreat into there, me to watch the soaps or oh to play on the console. I love him but it's nice to have a night to myself every now and then

'I need some space to myself,' should do it. Why beat about the bush?

Do you mind me asking roughly how much that cost? I'd love to do similar!

Same!

It's an internal garage with a bedroom above. So we had the ceiling sound and fire board proofed, the walls insulated and something to the floor to make it damp proof (sorry, I didn't pay much attention!) we had a gas radiator put in and some extra plugs and spot lights (it already had plumbing and electricity) and a small toilet room added and the garage door replaced with a door and window.

It was about £8000 including them laying the lino and plastering the walls. We are in the Midlands.

There is no internal door to the house, which is probably the only drawback but there was no wall we could put a door on that wouldn't have a negative impact on the living room or kitchen space. It was worth every penny for us, we use the room a lot.
