To think if you can’t wear a mask

Then you shouldn’t expect to sit in a room full of heavily pregnant women!

Partner of woman in hospital to get a blood test. Wouldn’t wear a mask or visor he was offered.

Midwife was very nice, said she would get the nurse ASAP so they didn’t have to wait but that he couldn’t sit in the waiting room full of pregnant women.

He was very upset!

I fully understand not everyone can wear a mask but surely the hospital has a duty of care to everyone and was sufficiently accommodating?

@Hardcoresoftie your casual use of 'Nazi' to describe people who want to protect themselves and others tells me everything I need to know about the type of person you are.

I’ve already reported the comment. Unbelievable.

@Traveller3367

Exactly what *@PrimeraVez* said I know of plenty of healthcare professionals that laugh at the idea that you can be mask exempt! Funny this hasn't affected anyone in the surgical field for decades. I mean imagine if your operating surgeon was mask exempt?

UK is full of selfish pillocks. Ain't nothing "great" and about GB anymore imo

My daughter is mask exempt because she has Tourette’s. Masks make her tics unbearable.

It’s highly unlikely she will be working as a surgeon tbh Hmm

Sorry, posted too soon by mistake.

When I’ve taken DD for her medical appointments, we’ve waited out of the way in a side room. I wouldn’t expect any different.

Although we did have someone demand to be allowed to sit in the side room too, then kick off because DD wasn’t wearing a mask

Exactly, it’s about meeting everyone’s needs and accommodating as much as possible.

Can’t wear a mask? No worries please wait outside/in this side room.

The non mask wearers are treated well and the higher risk patients are treated well.

I agree, @RustyCat.

Much of it is IMO just pathetic snowflakery, with ‘I am special’ thrown in. Or else ‘I just don’t want to and I don’t give a toss about anyone else.’

@secretsnowsquirrel

Interesting. We’ve been told that my husband can be a birth partner for me but must wear PPE. Absolutely no exceptions. Weird they don't impose such a rule everywhere in maternity units, particularly waiting rooms. As others have said, someone’s ‘exemption’ (real or made up) doesn’t trump the safety of a room full of vulnerable pregnant women. I agree that there should’ve been a list of locations published where mask wearing is absolutely required, no exceptions.
Totally agree.

Too many people don’t understand the difference between face coverings and PPE. I’ve come across care home staff claiming to be exempt from wearing a mask. No you’re not love. The exemptions for face coverings for strolling round Asda do not apply to the wearing of PPE in a clinical setting.
