So I have been using MFP since 1 March

I am 50yrs
Weight 17st 5lb
Height 5ft 7in

I started at 1800 calories, now I'm on 1400 calories per day and I stick to it.

Over the past few weeks I have put on and lost the same 2lb. I started at 17st 5lb and today I'm 17st 5lb.

Everything is weighed, measured and is healthy

What am I doing wrong?

😒

Go to your doctor.

Even at 1500 and sedentary you should be losing weight at your weight.

Wilkolampshade · 23/03/2021 11:30

So 1200 at sedentary? Yes, sounds closer tbh.

ShirleyPhallus · 23/03/2021 11:34

I agree with the others, that the step count is very low.

Can you also tell us what you eat? 100cals of protein is processed by your body in a very different way to 100cals of sugar, for example.

So I am going to add in steps

I am happy to email my food diary to someone to look at.

Was looking at Team RH, I like the look of it

BMR doesn't really work for me. Your BMR isn't neccesarily what the calculation says it should be. 1400 with no activity would have me gaining weight. What I did was have 1000 calories and I could eat what I burned through exercise above that. So if I burned 500 on the treadmill I could have 500 more calories that day. It also motivated me to exercise because if I wanted to eat I had to burn it off first.

@SylviaPlath1984 thank you! Slow but sure and it stays off!

You’re doing nothing wrong. Your body has metabolically adjusted to keep your weight at it’s set point. Your resting metabolic rate has no doubt decreased, so you can’t budge the scales.

Read the book “why we eat too much” and it explains the whole thing perfectly, and how to re set your metabolism so that it functions to lower your weight.

@Outbutnotoutout I like Team RH because the science makes sense, I'm not always sure of the delivery of their message but they're spot on. They have lots of free content and most people who comment will try and answer your questions. Signing up for membership is pretty cheap, something like £6 per month but you don't need to sign up, lots have lost weight just on the free content.

And as a PP mentioned MFP is very hit and miss and takes time to record information accurately. Good luck Smile

Im around 12.5 stone. I have a 9-5 desk job but walk a few times a week, reasonably quickly and my heart rate is elevated.
For me to lose weight I need to eat below 1600. This will give me about 1lb per week on average. In order to maintain I eat around 1800-1850.
I must point out that I follow a low carb way of eating.
1000-1200 cal at your weight is simply too low.
