Open it. Smell it (not the first moment - the wrapping makes it a bit whiff as soon as you take it off) and see if it smells normally ‘porky’ or is stronger or less pleasant than usual. If it is unusual, bin it.

Touch it - if the surface is at all slimy or grainy, then I’d leave it.

The meat doesn’t know you’re 12 hours over the date printed on it, so you’ll need to work it out other ways!

Oh, and if you do keep it, make sure you cook it really thoroughly - though I guess given the cut and the fact you’re thinking about cooking dinner now, it’s likely to be going in the slow cooker, in which case, are sure it gets up to a really good temperature.

I would go by the look of it, if the meat is pink and healthy looking and smells ok, not if it's started to discolour.

If it's not OK, you'll know. The smell and texture will be very wrong. If you're looking at it unsure, it's almost inevitably OK.

24 hours isn't really much when you consider that pork could've been hung for 4 or more days before they chopped it up anyway.

Cook it thoroughly to get rid of tapeworm

It doesn't go off at midnight like some reverse Cinderella.

It can even be ok in few days. As pps said, just check and cook adequately
