Catcalling is unacceptable/ harassment right?

I feel like I've slipped into a parallel universe.

On our local FB page today a post about a woman being subjected to catcalls from 2 men in a van attracted untold responses saying how this was no big deal, she should be flattered, to stop being a snowflake etc. Men and women of various ages.

I couldn't believe what I was reading. Do they think this is fine if it was their daughter it happens to? (When I was 12 a man yelled 'let me have a go on those big tits' at me from a car. There was no one else around. I was wearing school uniform, I looked 12. It made me feel ashamed of my body for years). Why would you think it's fine?

Are these people so ignorant they think it's fine? Do they have so little insight? Or am I out of step somehow?

What is really annoying me is that my comment has been deleted from the local FB group because of swearing (my actual words were why should women have to put up with this shit) and I have been muted for 7 days - yet all the misogynistic comments remain! (most of which also contained swearing but as they've written it as fook or sh1t or whatever, their idiotic musings stand ).

It's not on. Today I was out on my bike and got cat called and then sworn at by a bloke in a van. Unfortunately for him he was in his branded work van so I just went on google and left a scathing one star review. People should not be allowed to get away with it.

Think if this as an opportunity to do some friend housekeeping and delete the idiots.

I can't believe that saying shit is ban-worthy but being a misogynist is fine! I might have to leave the group - it's mostly lost pets and stolen cars so not much of a loss!
