Stole my card and spent all my money - advice?

Has anyone had experience with losing a bank card and someone spending their money on contactless? How long does it take to get the money back? Do they try and get out of getting your money back? (Barclays)

Currently on hold with the bank, can't check balance so don't know how much has gone but my tesco shop (through Pay+) declined....

That's my tax credit money that I rely on to feed my kids. Bastards.

Some shops are already £100 limit when contactless. Your bank should sort it out quickly for you, I hope.

I had a couple of hundred taken out of my account via a PayPal scam. I got it back but it took 2 months. Was given £125 extra for the inconvenience.

Make sure you tell the bank it's tax credit money and your children can't be fed. I'm so sorry - do you know who took it?

This. Have you access to a foodbank in the interim?

@SofiaMichelle

I thought you only got back anything spent after you report it stolen?
Not if you can show that it wasn't you making the transactions and you reported it as soon as possible. When DH's card was cloned, we picked it up because he happened to check the account and it was soon after pay day. He just said 'why have we only got X in our account?' then we saw about 30 transactions for expensive trainer shops, clothes shops, and they'd even treated themselves to pizza and sprinkles, 80 miles away from our home. We were able to say 'we don't shop at those shops, ever' and so it was really easy for the bank to draw a line under the legitimate transactions and clear off everything else.

@Jaxhog

As long as you reported it as soon as you realized, the bank should refund you. They will also stop the card.
'The bank' doesn't refund you, their customers do. If I lost £500 cash I wouldn't expect the bank to reimburse me, why should people expect the banks to act as free insurance to cover cards?
