I’ve not picked up my prescription that was sent there two weeks ago. They have called me today I definitely didn’t give them my number.

You’ve already given your consent.

Are you looking for things to get worked up about tonight? Confused your threads are a little odd.

Cokie3 · 20/03/2021 04:41

YABU It is your PHARMACY! Why shouldn't they have your number? It is vital health care! Why do you care? You should be GRATEFUL they called. This has to be a wind up, really.

Are you really truly serious? Confused

Cokie3 · 20/03/2021 04:47

@Ginuwine

Can someone explain to me why there is this growing trend on here for people to question whether anyone in an official or commercial capacity can have their contact details, and use them in said official capacity?

It's like the job one from a few days ago. It just smacks to me of people saying "oh but my privacy!! I want to ensure my privacy at any and all times because it's my right".

Ok, but you might want the pharmacy one day to proactively call you about something especially if linked to a doctor's surgery who send prescriptions through automatically. Pharmacies are technically perfectly safe businesses who have to abide by data rules.

There is a preciousness of thought here sometimes from certain posters who want to look for issues wherever they can find them.

Exactly this.
Longdistance · 20/03/2021 04:59

YABU. Honestly, there’s better things to get prickly about. They did you a favour. I hope you thanked them for reminding you?!

Baconbutties · 20/03/2021 05:20

Like someone else has already said the details are all on the NHS spine. You will have consented to sharing your info with a nominated community pharmacy at some point so your GP can transfer the prescription . They are a pharmacy and have a right of access this information that you will have consented to . Good on them for providing a service ! They are healthcare providers

FortunesFave · 20/03/2021 05:23

It's the PHARMACY OP! Not the local brothel. It's fine.

Very much this. How very dare they try and get your important medication to you. Angry It's disgusting.

Is there more?
StiltonVanDeKamp · 20/03/2021 05:30

YABU. What if a mistake had been made when prescribing and they need to contact you urgently? They are providing an essential service and it would be dangerous if they had no way of contacting you.

LunaLula83 · 20/03/2021 05:45

Get real!

MakeMineALarge1 · 20/03/2021 05:47

Is this all you have in life to get worked up about?

ragged · 20/03/2021 06:06

They probably have OP's full name, NHS number, home address, date of birth, too.

Elderflower14 · 20/03/2021 06:06

If this is all you have to worry about then I suggest you give yourself a good shake!!! Hmm

CreosoteQueen · 20/03/2021 06:17

Op: doesn’t check what she’s consenting to when giving her phone number to the GP

Pharmacy: phones OP, using details she consented to share, with helpful information

OP: Shock

happinessischocolate · 20/03/2021 06:33

If I youre that bothered just change your number and don't give the new one to anyone, not even your doctor 🙄

StepOutOfLine · 20/03/2021 06:36

Ssssh. She'll be after even more compensation.
ShipOfTheseus · 20/03/2021 06:48

If your prescription was electronically sent to a pharmacy, you will have agreed to it. Otherwise, why didn’t you pick up your paper prescription from the GP practice?

Orchidflower1 · 20/03/2021 06:48

It’s the pharmacist with YOUR meds contacting you. They need your details yabvvu.

Nith · 20/03/2021 07:13

@Fedup333336

Well I would prefer people don’t past contact details without my consent yes.
You presumably consented to this information being on the NHS online system when you have your contact details to your doctors.
ApolloandDaphne · 20/03/2021 07:17

What an odd thing to get worked up about. The pharmacy weren't prank calling you. They were calling you for a genuine reason.

toomuchfaster · 20/03/2021 07:18

And this sort of bullshit is part of why community pharmacy is a horrible place to work and at least a third of them will close in the next few years. Tell them and I'm sure they will not bother ringing you ever again.

mrcerec · 20/03/2021 07:20

If you had gone and collected your prescription earlier they wouldn't have had to call you. Pharmacies have a duty of care to patients and this includes not only getting your drugs to you on time, but also ensuring your date-limited expensive NHS drugs are not wasted and given to someone who needs them sooner. YABVU.
