Bad marketplace etiquette?

Just saw something worth £160 that was advertised of marketplace. Asked to have it. The seller said yes. Then she messaged me to say someone else who contacted her after she'd said yes to me offered her more and could I match it. I said no because I thought that was sneaky and over what I wanted to pay. She then basically unsold it to me and sold it to someone else. Of course she can do what she wants. But AIBU to think that is bad etiquette?

It sounds like the seller thinks marketplace is an auction. She's greedy and yes I'd think that's bad etiquette but I guess she doesn't really care as she wins - getting rid of the item for maximum money. I guess that's the advantage (or disadvantage) of private sales on FB.

To be honest I find Facebook marketplace to be the flakiest place to sell. Most people who ask for something never blooming we'll come to collect it.

But it is bad form if you'd arranged to collect already. Until that's been arranged I don't count anything as a done deal.

Yes, really bad form.

To be honest I've had more bad experiences on marketplace than good.

I don’t think there was another offer I reckon she just wanted more money from you but it didn’t work
