Being told I should be sent to reeducation camp because I eat too much meat

My in-law was (jokingly or not) said I should be sent to reeducation camp because of I eat more than 2 portion of meat per week. They went on about how much vegetable they eat and how healthy they are.

I felt very offended. I am fit, young and healthy. I did not ask for their opinions about my diet. Yet they kept shaming me to eat less meat.

I decided to stop talking with them so much. Now they are asking why I am so quiet. They complained to my partner that they don't get to talk to me... AIBU? What would you do to avoid a fail-out/confrontation? Thanks!

They complained to my partner that they don't get to talk to me

In that case, why not invite them round for food? A delicious barbeque sounds ideal.

Hog roast. Whole pig on a spit. Go big or go home.

I don't think this happened. I think you're just trying to get people riled up.

Also the use of the words 're-education camp'? Pretty tasteless..

Unlike delicious meat!

Yanbu. I haven't eaten meat for over 30 years, but it is not for someone else to tell you what to eat.

Too much meat isn't healthy, and it isn't great for the environment either, but it's perfectly legal, you are a grown-up and it's for you to decide.

I’d change my profile picture on social media to a picture of a mixed grill.

You sound very sensitive. Just leave it be and get on with enjoying your food. As PP have said, invite them round for a meal. Or just talk to them and take them on.
