Why have I been given a Covid vaccine?

I’m in Scotland. Early 30s, generally fit and well. Have just received a letter offering me a Covid vaccine this week and I can’t work out why!

I had a baby by c-section in December and have had abdominal surgery since then. Also had gestational diabetes while pregnant, but I don’t have T2 diabetes or pre-diabetes.

None of those things feel like they would be enough on their own to trigger a vaccine, do they? I wonder if it’s the cumulative effect!

(Not that I am complaining of course! I’m delighted, just curious).

It’ll be the gestational diabetes from what I’ve read from other people.

GD triggers call for vaccine.

Bigmomma164 · 15/03/2021 20:49

Gestational diabetes I think
Those with GD in England Were recently told to shield

Ahh, I didn’t know that! Thank you for clarifying Smile

Have you had a recent HBA1C?
I was given a shielding letter as I hadn't had a recent blood test! X
