We’ve booked a weeks holiday in Poole for Easter holiday. Have 2 very active pre schoolers who like most things!

Any suggestions would be most appreciated! Happy to travel around that area!

I was going to come on and suggest some ideas but everything will still be closed won’t it?
Am surprised you have found accommodation as I didn’t think they were allowed to open until after the Easter hols

OverTheRainbow88 · 14/03/2021 19:23

We’ve booked the second week so the 12th-18th so I think all outdoor places can open and self catering accommodation can!

Oh right ok our hols are much earlier. Abbotbury swannery. If the baby swans have hatched is amazing.

Hi Overtherainbow. I live in Poole but over the top of my head i can't think of fun things for kids. I will ask my friends that have children what they do.

Of course we do have lots of water and people often go from Sandbanks to Bournemouth along the beach. Also you can catch the chain ferry to Studland bay.

LakieLady · 14/03/2021 19:27

Take a trip over to Purbeck. There's a steam train that runs from Norden down to Swanage, lovely beaches at Studland, Kimmeridge beach is great for rock pooling and fossil hunting. Monkey World is close by, too. Corfe Castle has a (surprise, surprise) a castle and a rather charming model village.

Dogface79 · 14/03/2021 19:30

We love Brownsea Island (National Trust). The boat ride there and back is great too. Also Poole pottery to paint ceramics for a rainy day activity.

Farmer Palmers farmerpalmers.co.uk. Fantastic farm park not far from Poole. I've spent many a happy hour there feeding goats and riding go-karts ( the kids quite enjoyed it as well!)

YoBeaches · 14/03/2021 19:34

Poole park has 2 play areas just renovated and a cafe, great for a picnic. Upton Country Park for a wander/ice cream. Sandbanks beach obvs! Boat trips from Poole Harbour round the islands, get the chain ferry to the other side of the beach. Bournemouth Pier might have attractions running, monkey world, longfleet safari, marwell zoo about an hour away. Corfe castle, swanage railway, fish n chips in swanage or Poole. There's an I dore skatepark on ringwood road but not sure if that will be open. Visit hengistburu head for a walk/lunch etc

Blue pool if it is open is a lovely spot

Belledan1 · 14/03/2021 20:03

Poole is a good central place. Think it's a easy drive to Weymouth and Bournemouth. Sure we went on a boat trip to swanage too

tinkerbellvspredator · 14/03/2021 20:06

Moors Valley Country Park. Wood based play areas trail plus Go Ape which has high trampoline section I think for little ones.

Massive soft play, bowling, cinema and restaurants at Tower Park on a rainy day.

ShaunaTheSheep · 14/03/2021 20:07

See if the open top buses are running.

New Forest

tinkerbellvspredator · 14/03/2021 20:09

Adventure Wonderland is a really nice and cheap theme park for little ones. And right next to it is the Bournemouth Aviation Museum - lots of different types of planes to climb into brilliant for little ones and very quiet most of the time.

We drove to Durdle Door when we stayed in Poole. Amazing coast line.

Chloxox · 15/03/2021 04:39

I’m going in September and have been down there before. There’s lots of nice places to visit like Bournemouth, Swanage, Weymouth. There’s peppa pig world and I think there’s a indoor water park in Poole too. Sandbanks is a nice area which is right in Poole and I think there’s a sea life centre in Weymouth too.

Lulu1919 · 15/03/2021 05:31

Sandbanks beach,
Isle of Purbeck (check the ferry is going- while there there is a steam train from Corfe to Swanage, Corfe Castle is great and Lulworth Cove is lovely),
Mudeford Quay and the river near Christchurch,
Brownsea Island,
Moors Valley Country Park,
Bournemouth and its beach,
Alum Chine and the other beaches stretching between Bournemouth and Poole

peak2021 · 15/03/2021 08:50

Brownsea Island has red squirrels, which your DC may not have seen. Assuming it is opened by the National Trust.
