Is it rude to vacuum whilst someone is asleep?

Is it rude so start vacuuming in a room where someone is asleep? Person A was poorly so in bed around lunchtime for a nap. Person B (who usually does the vacuuming) could have vacuumed at anytime during that day but doesn’t think it’s a big deal. Person A is unimpressed they chose nap time

Yes, definitely arsey behaviour.

BettyOBarley · 14/03/2021 21:33

Definitely rude and sounds quite deliberate.
DH works nights and I'd never hoover while he's in bed.

KarmaStar · 14/03/2021 21:42

Depends,if just feeling a bit off colour and had all day and night to rest and sleep then no they were not rude.
If only chance to rest before work or seriously ill then possibly,yes.

peak2021 · 14/03/2021 21:58

If someone is ill, then yes rude and inconsiderate.

warmandtoasty2day · 14/03/2021 22:02

so i guess you were person a who was ill then op and person b was dh ?
would be so much easier to understand tbh.

MissTrip82 · 14/03/2021 22:07

@Givemeabreak88

I will hoover whatever time I like in my house
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Not so much rude and just thoughtless I would say.

I assume the person who did it isn’t a very thoughtful person or one to whom kindness comes easily.

beyondtheshoe · 14/03/2021 22:08

Unless it's your teenager sleeping in the middle of the day, despite having been warned several times, that you were expecting guests at a certain time or simply that you had to be finished by a certain time,

It's rude and spiteful.

If someone is ill?

What sort of household do you have that you would willingly make a family member feel worst? Why, just why.

beyondtheshoe · 14/03/2021 22:10

@Givemeabreak88

I will hoover whatever time I like in my house
so you haven't got any family member whose house it is too?
JustDespair · 14/03/2021 22:19

@shouldistop

I Hoover when baby ds is napping Grin

To answer your op though, I wouldn't Hoover if dh was unwell and sleeping.

That's not a bad thing though. I know my parents used to hoover around me when I slept in order to make me less sensitive to noise. It helped, and I slept like the dead until well into my adulthood.

Now I wake up at the slightest sound unfortunately, thanks to the previous neighbours that wrecked my sleep for well over a year!

BetaSasquatch · 14/03/2021 22:19

Hoover another room in the house - wouldn't bother me if I were the sleeper.

The SAME room. Sod off!

WhoStoleMyCheese · 14/03/2021 22:29

Very rude - unless there's a compelling reason why the hoovering HAD to be done at that time
I'm v busy and have my hoovering time scheduled - DP knows so if he chooses to nap then it's not my problem... but otherwise rude. Doubly so if ill person.

hulahooper2 · 14/03/2021 23:12

Extremely rude to hoover if someone is feeling unwell and needs a nap

WhoStoleMyCheese · 14/03/2021 23:24

Also OP must've been you doing the hoovering
You're definitely not the napper, otherwise you'd have said so to gain sympathy.

CoffeeRunner · 14/03/2021 23:32

I can’t believe some people think this is OK!

How selfish & entitled do you have to be to hoover (or do anything to make a loud noise) when an unwell person is trying to sleep?

Nobody needs to Hoover right now. Nobody ever died from going an extra day between vacuums.

diagold4u · 14/03/2021 23:45

Yes.... yet I still do it
If something needs hoovering I just can't wait, my skin will itch Til I Hoover up.
