It was 7.03am on Mothers' Day.

DP had got up was pottering in the en suite, I also woke because I needed to loo and had a pounding headache.

He got me painkillers and a glass of water and left me to lie in.

2 minutes later he comes in to ask where my car key is. Obviously he hadn't looked before enquiring Hmm.

It was in my bag where it always is, same bag as always. I never ever need to take it out my bag. Though this time, if he'd actually looked, he wouldn't have seen it - I've started to keep it zipped inside my purse, so I can just grab my purse if I'm nipping somewhere.

So I told him through my pain Wink, it's inside my purse, in my bag.

2 minutes later, clatter through the bedroom door.

"No it's not in your purse, where is it?"

"Are you sure, I KNOW it's in there."Confused

"No it's not, the purse is too flat, there's only credit cards in there."

"I'm SURE it's in there. Never taje it out, started popping it in purse so I can just grab and go."

"I can tell how flat it it, it's not there." Angry

"Have you actually unzipped it to look to see it was where I explicitly said it was?"

"No, I don't need too, I can tell by the feel."

"Oh, well I'm worried now."

"Well the car's locked, I'll just have to find the spare."

3 mins later: text message to say, sorry found it, my bad looking. HmmAngryHmm

He didn't even look before contradicting me where my explicit guidance told him too.

What a fricken nob.

Now birch is not equivalent to bitch either Grin

@Sarcobaleno

He gets you painkillers and leaves you to have a lie in and he's a fricking knob. Either you're just not much of a morning person or you have some deep seated anger towards him because this is a total non-event.
Get the man a medal.

I’m pretty sure every wife here brings their husband painkillers if they’re in pain without a second thought. This is not remarkable behaviour, or at least it shouldn’t be.

Sarcobaleno · 14/03/2021 12:55
  1. He was called a fucking knob by a pp. agree bitch isn't equivalent to knob but fucking knob is harsh. My point was if I did some minor irritating misdemeanour and my husband posted online about for me to be called a fucking cow (for example) I'd be pretty unimpressed.
  1. No, getting painkillers isn't a medal winner. But if we can't ignore the little negatives why do we ignore the little positives?

So even if he looked where they normally were, he wouldn't have found them??

MiddleParking · 14/03/2021 13:34

I don’t think it’s that minor. It might be if she was up and about and he did this refusing to find the keys business. Doing it when OP is in bed with a headache is completely unacceptable and I wouldn’t care how unimpressed he was about being called anything for it.

TheAudie · 14/03/2021 13:37

Off topic OP. Was it a migraine? If so, what tablets helped you get better quickly?

No he wouldn't have found them and I'd have been very willing to tell him, because I'd varied the system.

But a) he'd asked where something was before looking in its usual space.

Then b) he'd ignored specific guidance because his assessment of the situation was obviously more correct than my actual cold hard knowledge. Smile

Rather irksome yup.

In our house , if you were to ask my partner, its me that can never find anything, asks without looking first and often turns out to be sitting on missing item (remote, phone)

I have to admit to being a bit of a nob, don't let him know I said that though Grin

It was sort of pre migraine, pounding headache slight vision loss but hadn't descended into nausea or photophobia.

I have prescription called Maxalt which is a wafer that you just dissolve on your tongue. It's normally stops most migraines forming if I can take it quickly enough after recognising the cues that one is incoming.

This is my dad all over, OP. He accuses my mom of ‘hiding the things only he uses’ - the reality is he won’t look past the end of his nose.

At Christmas I was sat at the kitchen table doing some work on my laptop. He came in and said, ‘Is there any wine chilling?’ I said yes; I’d put some in at lunchtime.

He opens the fridge, peers blankly, turns back to me and says, ‘Where??’

‘I’m not sure; middle shelf I think’.

Same blank stare: ‘I can’t see it’.

Me: ‘Well look. You haven’t even moved anything’.

Him: ‘I see NO wine’.

In the end I get up, take two seconds to look behind a yoghurt pot and hey presto - wine. ‘Ohhh, well you didn’t say it was behind something...’

Seriously - you can’t move a pot of fucking yoghurt?! You’d think I’d buried it on a desert island.

@Gerla

I get this OP. My dh's default position is to not believe me. My god, it's tiring trying to get through to him. I just give up now after one go as it's not worth the hassle. I remember once we were in the car and I was map reading (on Google maps and a real map!) Turn right, I said. He turned left as he felt it was the correct way. Hmm 5 minutes later we were back at the same junction. Turn right, I said. No, he still felt left was better. Five minutes later....
On a more serious note @Gerla it genuinely sounds like you and your DH have some issues in your marriage? He doesn't sound like he's got your back at all?
