I know that this will make me sound mean but I am totally pissed off with it. Whenever I pop in I am being told that I owe money, last time £47, for a variety of different collections. I continue to pay the £5 a month card fund which I don't mind, its all the money for flowers and presents that is beginning to annoy me. I have just had a text from secretary saying she put in £10 for a weddind collection on my behalf. But I am going to this wedding and have bought a present off the list already. I know that I was on the receiving end when my baby pressie came so feel that I am unable to complain but I really can't afford it as on no muney at the moment.

Sorry perhaps I have not been clear, the fund is also for flowers. Presents are collected for separately. The secretary's sister is our florist though.

but even that is saying that every person gets roughly £50 on a card and a bunch of flowers on their birthday? thats still a bit exessive!!

Blimey, sounds like a complete racket! Seriously, are there any accounts kept? It's all a bit to me.

I dont think the fact that you contribute whilst your off is the issue (i guess youre still getting paid).

But £10 in a collection I would die if someone put a tenner in for me, whatever happened to everyone throwing £1 in an envelope and a £5 a month card fund sounds ridiculous

No accounts, its all informal and I don't the monthly fund (although the numbers do seem mad), its the owing for all these presents that is annoying me, over £100 since going on leave. It's crazy.

Don't mind..sorry. No am not paid at the moment as at the end of leave. But you know some of these recent recipients I have never even met let alone worked with! I suppose its one of those things that you have to swallow.

Blimey- I thought collection meant just that- they sent an envelope around to collect coins or fivers in- not an organised racket. How can they know hom much you would have put in? Are you on full pay or down to statutory only now? Cos that would be a serious blow if the latter. Also tell that sec that you should not have to contribute twice.
