@Worthless90s Even if the 30 free hours didn’t exist and the cost was slightly lower it’s not going to be that much lower realistically would it?. I would expect your 950 would be 800 at the lowest. Once you add up at least minimum wage, rent, food, management and profits. Did the childcare costs shoot up when it was introduced? Wasn’t it only in 2017?

This was an article from February 2018 so the year after it was announced. In the year 2017 there was was a 7% increase in fees for children under 2 which at the time was double the inflation

Sounds like they plan to offer 6hrs a day if you want child in before or after then u have to pay for the extra hours. Also the 30hrs is only term time so U wld need to pay for ur full days when schools are off.

I would find another nursery to be honest. Most are more flexible than that. Mine is a private nursery and they are open all year bar Xmas/new yr time. I get 22 hrs a week all year. She's in 2 1/2 days. Her 2 full days are funded. I pay £3 a day for bfast/lunch and snacks. I have to pay for the additional 3hrs to make it up to half a day. I wld have preferred to put her in till 5pm and then put her in 1-5pm that would have used all my free hours but they don't let you. My sisters nursery let's her do that so she only pays for lunch and snacks for 2 days.

My DS3 gets 30 free hours and which is 9-3 (ish) I pay the wrap around care so he can start from 7:45 and finish at 5:45 if required. I also pay for lunches

Thanks for all the comments they are helpful to see what other people are doing. I currently pay £500 per month for a day and a half a week.

We are due another baby in July and also moving house I am trying to get ahead with finances to prepare so wanted to know what most people pay. To be honest I'm hoping to send him to preschool attached to the school and a child minders to have both baby and toddler before nursery. Im waiting to move before we do this then as don't want to jinx anything.

Someone said that they refuse to use the funded hours but unfortunately for me 2 sets of childcare fees will mean that I would not take a wage and I already work 11 hour days.

Thank your for everyone's comments though it has been really helpful. Xx
