Nappies should be available to buy as small sample packs

So DS has just outgrown his current nappy size and our usual brand has discontinued from the next size up cries
So begins the search for a new nappy
Why do I have to purchase 30-50 socks of each to try one bloody nappy on for size?!!!
I mean it's such a waste. I give away the ones I don't use but even so
AIBU to think nappy companies should sell sample packs of a few nappies?

@Same4Walls I've been traipsing round all the aldis near me hoping for some size 4s. I've given up now. Genuinely gutted tho haha. Let me know if you spot any!

Hilarious that OP isn’t responding to anyone explaining why it makes no senses for companies to sell sample packs 🙄

Not really hilarious. I took the OP to be a lighthearted general whinge thread about how frustrating it is when you've found a nappy that works and have to then start the search all over again. I'm sure she actually knows why they dont make sample pack, she was just looking for some solidarity.

@Same4Walls
Spot on haha

And had I not posted then I may never have known what @WoolieLiberal said about emailing for free samples Grin

Actually you’re right, it’s not hilarious, but it is rude not to reply to people who have explained why samples aren’t sold.

Bigmomma164 · 16/03/2021 18:29

It's pretty clear my post was light-hearted
If you were unable to decipher that then the problem is not with me.

I'm just about to have baby number 4! I think it's always a case of different nappies work for different babies. My DD who is 20 months fits the Huggies Explorer pants, 9-18 months perfectly.
My elder two bath suited different brands too.

DailyDuckie · 16/03/2021 18:30

Go on their websites see if you can get free samples sent to you?

Bigmomma164 · 16/03/2021 18:32

I am neither dumb nor bonkers enough to expect multinational companies to change their decades long practices for lil old me
I do however expect to be able to have a safe space to rant about it on MN
Until of course a fun-sponge like yourself comes along and saps the fun out of my light-hearted frustrated rant Grin

@DailyDuckie
Didn't no that could be done
Thanks ☺️

@Bigmomma164 hopefully they still do it for kids nappies. I know I had done it before and they had sent me a coupon for like 50p off too! If you don’t ask you don’t get.

Parkandride · 16/03/2021 18:41

Oops didn't mean to be a fun sponge and hope I didn't sound lecturey, I did say it was a boring answer

Cassilis · 16/03/2021 18:41

Light-hearted doesn't mean you ignore people because they're telling you an inconvenient truth.

Anyway, I'm done. Enjoy.

RickiTarr · 16/03/2021 18:46

It would also mean if you miscalculated or got held up, and ran out while out and about, you could just nip into a shop and buy a few instead of having to buy & lug a big pack around with you.

Also for mothers on tiny budgets (lots of relationships break down during pregnancy & often DV starts at the time of pregnancy or perinatally). I’d you run short at the end of the month, you can spend less on the few you need to tide you over.

Multiple upsides, no downsides. Great idea @Bigmomma164

GreenSlide · 16/03/2021 18:48

Thing is though they might be ok with Pampers today, then tomorrow Asda will suit better then in 3 months Pampers will be fine again. So they won't be wasted, keep them and try them again in a while.

Youseethethingis · 16/03/2021 19:26

@Bigmomma164
I’d ignore the huffy pants too, this isn’t FB messenger where you’re expected to reply to everyone individually Grin

Bigmomma164 · 16/03/2021 19:40

@Youseethethingis haha huffy pants. Might use that phrase with DS and DH come to think of it
@GreenSlide yes but so little space in my home. I end up giving them either to the charity shop or the local children's centre so hopefully they are not going to waste Smile

Hated Pampers. Tried Asda, Sainsburys and Lidl. We prefer Lidl. (Size 3, skinny boy with long torso).

I said I'd switch to cloth when he wasn't a newborn but my problem is not knowing where to start with them!

Bigmomma164 · 11/04/2021 10:51

All those interested in smaller packs, I found a website that sells sample boxes (2 nappiesfrom most available brands). Ordered me a size 4+ box. Much cheaper than trying all the brand's by buying a back! Yippee

Ifixfastjets · 11/04/2021 11:36

Well, there is a small business idea for you.
Buy a pack of each; in the same size.
Make a little pack of something like 3 x pampers, 3 x sainsbury's etc and sell on ebay for a couple of quid.
On the shelf in the shop will be a tag saying "24p per nappy" or something. So you can work out how much each pack cost you. Add a little extra for your time and effort.

Sseyfi001 · 11/04/2021 16:56

Hello, you can buy all the brands as samples as part of the Choozify Nappy Selection Box. You get two nappies of each brand in the box, so you can test drive them and see which ones fit the best before buying bigger packs
