Today has been the days of all days.

I woke up to a text to let me know I have corona virus, I'm suffering pretty bad with it. I'll only receive sick pay.

My council tax bill came in and I have to pay £168 per month 😂 on a single parents wage. I live in a council house for gods sake, that's my whole food budget.

Got a new maintenance calculation. My ex now only has to pay £5.08 per week for 3 children!

I just give up. I don't want to do this anymore, I cannot go on living like this. I cannot keep robbing Peter to pay Paul

Poor you. I’m so sorry to hear you’re so I’ll and all these shitty things are happening

Glad you’ve had the opportunity to rest. I hope you start to feel better soon. Rest as much as you can.

@GladysTheGroovyMule I live in Chester in one of the nice villages. I'm trying to move into one of the locals towns because the bills will be cheaper.

I'm priced out of my own home village

@LaceyBetty thank you. He's self employed which explains a lot

@GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing thank you so much! I keep nodding off, I feel so weak.

I'm struggling badly with everything at the moment. I think I have a little extra cash per month then they put up all the utility bills so now I'm more in the red.

That sounds terrible, I hope you get well soon and your ex is a prat

Crystalclair · 11/03/2021 00:38

Phone Citizens advice. They're really helpful in ensuring you are getting all you are entitled too. Your council tax seems extremely high.

Bloodybridget · 11/03/2021 04:07

That's a huge amount of CT! We pay less with 2 adults in a four bedroom house in inner London. So sorry, OP, I do hope you can get more financial help and that you make a good recovery. Is there someone who could make enquiries about possible benefits for you, while you're feeling so unwell?

endofthelinefinally · 11/03/2021 04:18

There is a charity called turn2us who give advice and support to anyone struggling financially. If you just google it is easy to find.

HotelCaliforniaOnRepeat · 11/03/2021 04:24

I hear you op, band f for a council house here. It's crippling us this year. Don't worry about it while you are poorly. Email the council for help and check your benefits entitlement when you feel better.
Hope you feel better very soon

Jenasaurus · 11/03/2021 05:03

It depends on where you are in regards to the council tax. My Council Band is C and its £1728 a year, thats for a masionette (without a discount as I have my DD and her BF living here so dont qualify) so that would be £1728 a month but with a 25% discount it would work out still quite a lot, worth checking though

garlictwist · 11/03/2021 05:43

Why is your council tax so high? That's seems very expensive. Ours is 90'quid a month for a three bed semi.

mummyof2lou · 11/03/2021 05:50

My council tax bill just came in at £2500. Daylight robbery. What man can look at himself in the mirror every morning knowing he pays £5 a week for his kids? So shocked by that. Sounds tough OP, but it won't be like this forever. Hope you feel better today

Butwhhhyyyyyyy · 11/03/2021 09:38

Ijustgiveup, I used to live in Ke!sall, just outside Chester, council tax is stupidly high in Cheshire. I now live just over the border in Wales and it's so much cheaper and still a nice area, hope things improve for you soon.
