Netflix blurring older actresses...WTF?

Just watching "Dead To Me" on Netflix, and can't help but notice some weird blurring on Christina Applegate's (main actress) neck and forehead...is this a common thing, to blur actresses over 40? To erase their lines and imperfections? Never noticed it before but I can't unsee it now.

AIBU to be a bit stunned by this, or does this often happen in film/TV? Seems really sad that women are photoshopped like this 😕 I can't imagine the same thing would happen with men...

I think this happens quite a lot, not just on Netflix.

I've seen a comparison of how much blurrier Ru Paul (both in and out of drag) gets every series of drag race as he gets older. That article definitely implied that it was Ru Paul demanding that they blur him to look younger, but I don't know how much say actors/actresses usually get.

@mainsfed that is the shot that I first noticed. But it only seems to happen when Applegate is zoomed in on or the camera is focused on her. I kept a beady eye out and her neck isn't blurred all the time.

She is so gorgeous, I don't understand why they'd blur her perfectly normal neck!

@gobbynorthernbird

Do you know if this is being imposed on actresses or if they have made the choice?
I'm not sure. I thought this too. Could simply be a choice of the actress. If it is enforced without consulting the actress it's a bit shit IMO.
