To ask what MAKES you choose to eat healthily?

I’m struggling with motivation to lose weight.

I’ve never been slim and in my adult years have never had a BMI less than 29.
Right now it’s at 37 Confused

My motivation for eating healthily used to be socialising, I wanted to look and feel good.
Since that hasn’t been happening for the last year I no longer have that motivation. I don’t get dressed up. I just live in lounge wear.

I start the day well and just eat rubbish come early evening.

I pretty much live on takeaways at the minute.

I ordered it and I know I’m fat and will get fatter, but I just think so what Blush

I’m always really fascinated when I see people out running, eating healthy food.
Why is that? What makes people want to give up a nice big juicy burger (which would bring so much satisfaction) in favour of a salad Envy

I don’t even think about the health implications of my weight. It’s like I just don’t care.

I did go for a walk to my local park a few days ago and saw a friend. I purposely walked in the opposite direction so she didn’t see me and my vert obvious large weight gain.
So it must to an extent bother me. But not enough to do anything about it... 🤷🏻‍♀️

@FluffyBlueJumper

BTW, if you are waiting for something to "make" you want to lose the weight, you are in the wrong mindset. At the moment you are choosing to overeat. You have to choose to eat less, and this cannot come from outside you.
Totally agree with this. I’ve been waiting for 10 years. Finally chose to change 2 weeks ago and it feels amazing to be in control rather than a slave to sugar cravings. It was hard to break but it’s amazing on the other side. I can’t wait to see the end result in a few months time. I’m saving for beautiful clothes!

I enjoy looking attractive, I really, really, really hate looking in the mirror and not liking what I see I think that is mostly it,

Honestly, I hate what I see when I look in the mirror.
Physically hate it. I cry and get upset.
You’d think this would stop me ordering take out or eating shit, but it doesn’t. It makes me want to eat shit even more.
It’s like a friend giving me a hug when I eat crap food... 😟[/quote]

I'm so sorry, it must be really, really hard. You sound so sad and I would love for you to feel better.

I guess this is why I also reference self esteem in my earlier message. Self esteem is hard won and often hard to hang on to but I think it makes the difference between responding with a takeaway or a work out. Could you look at ways of improving your self esteem, or focus on one area of your appearance only for now? Nail care, hair etc? Sending lot of kind thoughts your way.

Wanting to be happy with my figure when I look in the mirror.

After having my son and breastfeeding I gained so much weight I was a pound away from being overweight, the heaviest I’ve been. That shocked me and I knew I didn’t want to live like that so I started to count calories and eat less. 26lb down, another few to go, but I’m already much much happier in general. I love how clothes look, I like myself when I look in a mirror, and I know I’m doing my best to not leave myself open to health issues that might affect me and in turn my son. I want to be in the best possible shape not just for me but for him too.

It's such an easy place to get to and a hard one to get out of but if you want to you can.

I changed my lifestyle a lot.

I exercise 6 times a week because I love it and it makes me feel great.
I never have take aways because they make me feel rubbish and by the time over ordered I can cook something nicer and healthier
Planning and tracking meals really helps

My problem is late night snacking but I can live with that for now.

When you start eating healthier you will want to move more x

I choose to eat healthily because I like whole and home cooked food - and exercise because I love running.
I never eat takeaways or processed meals, I eat crisps maybe once a week with the Friday apéro but that's enough, otherwise it's cashew nuts and almonds as a snack.
The thought of eating a Mcdo makes me feel sick, but I'll happily eat a home made burger with homemade burger and salad. Without fries.
