To ask what happens if a signed-for parcel is sent to (and accepted by) the wrong address??

Item of more than £400 value was returned by courier to a small seller 2 weeks ago, no refund yet forthcoming, have messaged them to follow up. They have asked where I sent it back to, which was the address listed on the website. They say they have now moved.

Now I don’t know what has happened to my parcel!! They said they were going to go to the old address to see if they could retrieve it but it has all gone quiet. I’m getting a bit worried. Does anyone have any experience of this and know how I’m best to deal with it? I could really use the money back ASAP!

Just ponderings but:
Would a building lease end on a Monday.
Would a building lease end in the middle of the month.
Is the building empty because the business still have the keys, as in paid up on rent till the end of the month.
Could they or their employees have been there doing final cleaning and tidying after the move and they are actually the ones who signed for the parcel.
When they approved the return, why would they withhold the fact the business had moved, very odd.
Did they not provide an initial email order confirmation and purchase invoice with their business address in it, also very odd.

Do you have the new address. Have you googled it, with and without the company name. Did you return the goods because it was shite/not as described/not worth the amount paid, as in a scam from the beginning.

The reason that Visa & MasterCard are so good is that if there is a dispute, they withhold ALL money going to that retailer until it is sorted out.

Visa/Barclaycard have just refunded me because an internet retailer failed to deliver something. According to their tracking, it's arrived in the UK and is near Slough but has been there since 14 December. It was meant to be Christmas presents for my DDs. I emailed the retailer a couple of times then asked for a refund. They "only process refunds within 60 days" so by the time I had allowed for Black Friday/Christmas/Covid, it was over that time. They weren't interested so I went to Barclaycard who were great. Suddenly the retailer is now sending replacements. If they actually arrive, I'll let Barclaycard know. However, I won't rush to tell them. It cuts both ways.

Thanks everyone this is really helpful

@MRex @finished31 I paid via PayPal, with MasterCard - great to hear the card company is another possible route I can go down

@DinkyYorkie yes they provided a paper invoice with the order, but subsequently moved without notifying me when I was arranging the return. The item was as described, just didn’t fit. They seem genuine TBH but then nothing much seems to be happening either...

If you paid by paypal then just go to PayPal. You have buyer protection. They'll issue a refund. Scan the delivery note and which showed their old address and upload your tracking info to show that it has been returned to that address.

I just wanted to share something funny 😂
A week or so before Christmas our prom and proper neighbour had a signed for parcel. My dp signed for it.

It got dumped in our hallway and then shoes, bags, Christmas stuff got on top of it and I'll be honest it's still there

So she's never in she practically lives with her partner but still keeps her house

Guessing she has had a card saying we r got it

However the despatch docket wasn't very well folded and was clear for all too see it's a sex toy from love honey
😆

So all a bit awkward!!!! Not deliberate
