To think that LYCRA is actually the reason many people put on weight?

By 'many people' I mean me really. Grin And I don't just mean lycra, obviously I've been eating too much too but I feel I'd like to lay some of the blame on lycra.

I never used to think much about my weight but I'm sure that I started putting on weight when some fucker decided to put lycra in every sodding item of clothing when I was younger and buying cheap fashion. I do try to be a bit more discerning about what I buy these days in terms of fabrics and where it comes from but I will confess that I didn't when I was young.

So I think I started putting on weight without even realising it (never weighed myself for years) because my clothes seemed to expand with me and by the time I did realise, it was more difficult to lose. So it's back to more structured clothing these days where I can feel quite quickly if the lbs are creeping up.

Is there anyone I can sue?

*do I need to put a 'lighthearted' disclaimer? Really?

Aww - I must need new glasses. I clicked on here as I thought it was a thread blaming lyrica for weight gain!
I am really struggling to lose weight and I’m blaming it on my medication!!
Oh well.

Agree - I tried to put on some formal trousers and realised that I had gone up a size, when my stretchy jeans /leggings/ trousers let me not face that. Most casual clothes will allow at least half a dress size up before you notice its tight.

I'm going back to daily weighing. Its the only way I am honest with myself.

But my god a year of "just go out once a day for about an hours exercise" has piled on the weight. Normal life had so much more movement in it and less eating.

Normal life had so much more movement in it and less eating.

Agreed @Margoskaftan, I feel the same.

I eat when I'm bored.
This whole year has been boring.
Even with doing the recommended excercise each day, and more, ive still put on nearly a stone.
A few days of wearing structured, non lycra unforgiving clothes.would soon give me a wake up call to lose some weight but it's still to cold too wear rthem.

OP.
Maybe you could start a support thread (similar to Dry January or Vegenary or Stioptober) where for one whole month we have to wear fitted clothes every day. Possibly even with belts.
What could we call it?
I'd join!

Agree.

I need to start putting on less stretchy clothes but I think they may cut off my circulation right now Blush

I agree with you! The stretch in my clothes didn’t give me the warning signs then I put on something more structured and I’m surprised it’s so tight!
