Wibu to go for a walk in the fog?

I'm doing exercise at home but I'm frustrated at being stuck inside and want to go for a walk outside to clear my head and stretch my legs.

Trouble is, all the roads around me are fairly major and have no pavements. Even worse, it's foggy and visibility isn't great.

Would it be a stupid idea to risk going for a walk? I have a bright red coat and a hi vis cover for my backpack but I'm uneasy about road walking when the weather is like this. Or am I just being lazy and I should go anyway?
@garlictwist seriously?😂 are you scared of everything?

Living rurally you can’t be scared. I walk at night alone, torch in hand. Wind rain etc. And on a weekend i love noting more than a lonely quarry walk. Not everywhere has a rapist or murderer lurking.
Have you read the thread? The op isn’t worried about rapists and murderers, you seem to be the only one who is thinking about them.

Everyone else is talking about visibility to traffic.

Are there verges to jump on? OP was talking about departure at 5pm which means cars would have headlamps on.
I might do it, but I live on quiet country lanes.

Yes i have read the thread. It seems there are many who are a scared of things the rest of us get on with.

What a bizarre remark! I live rurally too, and I know that rural roads are the most dangerous for pedestrians. I've just checked, and it seems that although they have only 40% of road traffic they have 62% of pedestrians.

A person would have to be an idiot to just 'get on with' walking on that kind of road in fog, with no pavement. Good luck surviving yours!

SpudsandGravy · 04/03/2021 21:55

Sorry, that should have been 62% of fatalities, not pedestrians.

MrsDThomas · 04/03/2021 22:20

If there are so many accidents they cant be that rural. Rural for some is different to rural for others.

If you need other people's opinions about doing it,you have a problem. Why do need answers to such a basic question,go or not go,two choices.here are 2 sweets,1 red 1green which do you choose? easy enough.

Sweet666 · 05/03/2021 00:46

Yanbu.... why would you avoid going out just because there is fog? I don't understand this...

melononapear · 05/03/2021 08:34

Because, since I have to walk on the road with no pavement, I was worried that the reduced visibility might mean cars wouldn't see me and I could get hit 😆
