What normal things are you longing for again?

What normal, perhaps even mundane, events are you longing to participate in when lockdown is over?

I have a young baby so there’s loads of stuff I’ve missed - meeting friends and family, baby groups, antenatal classes etc - but the thing I’m honestly most looking forward to is just going to cafes. Sitting somewhere totally normal for a cup of tea and a slice of cake, chatting with my mum or a friend.

What previously completely normal event is everyone else excited for?

Going inside peoples houses for a cup of tea
Visiting family for overnight stays
Going swimming
Meeting friends in the pub

Going to the supermarket and picking out my own stuff! Haven't been for a year as I'm in a wheelchair so DH has been doing all the shopping alone.

Quick pint at the beer garden.

Leaving the house not being worried about being questioned where we are going.

Hugging my nana and my mum.

Girls night in with my sister.

listsandbudgets · 03/03/2021 22:51

Seeing my mum

Chimboo · 03/03/2021 22:53

Not wearing a mask, deciding to stop off in a pub while on a dog walk and taking my dog to the library so kids can read to him. I really miss that. We’d only just started before this hit and it was so lovely.

FrenchBoule · 03/03/2021 22:54

Kids at school.
Shopping,meeting friends just usual

kittlesticks · 04/03/2021 08:30

Haven't seen my sister or nephew in person now since Xmas 2019 as they live abroad. So that's the main thing for me.
On the more mundane side I want to get my DD (19 months - 7 months when it all started)) a library card and take her and DS to the big nearby library and then just go to a cafe, get them treats and read the books they chose.

alibongo5 · 04/03/2021 13:41

Having a conversation which doesn't end up being about Covid, vaccinations etc.

cliftonbear · 04/03/2021 14:24

sitting in a coffee shop for hours reading and doing uni work, and going to my uni’s learning commons

To never again here someone patronisingly say “be safe” I am safe it’s the flu!

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 04/03/2021 14:31

Normal opening hours, and actually being allowed to speak to other people in the pub.

HelplessProcrastinator · 04/03/2021 14:35

Not wearing a fucking hateful mask x1000
Chorus rehearsals and performances
Hugging my mum
Meeting friends
Gigs
Holidays
The kids, particularly the 13 year old, getting their lives back

Proudboomer · 04/03/2021 14:41

Going to the local carvery for a roast I haven’t cooked myself and eating as many roast potatoes as humanly possible.
Seeing my brother and sil
Not having to follow a one way system around the supermarket.
Going shopping and being able to touch stuff
Sitting down in McDonald’s with a hamburger, fries and milkshake.

chestnutshell · 04/03/2021 15:05

I think 4 of my friends have moved house and I haven’t been able to go round and ooo and ahhh over their new pads. Can’t wait to do that and let them cook for me and natter until the small hours.

Going to another city to mooch about in shops, eat lunch in a pub, go to a museum etc

After work drinks on sunny days

BBQs in the summer

Busy jolly Christmas period visiting family and exchanging gifts, eating food etc

Being able to put my podcast on all the Alexas throughout the house whilst I do housework as I am the only one in!

Having said all this I’ve realised there’s some things I haven’t missed too! And I won’t be going back to doing it. Like working out of the house 5 days a week to be exhausted in the evenings and weekends, doing a HIIT class (I much prefer hiking apparently!) and crowded public transport.

demelza82 · 05/03/2021 15:38

Taking my 5 year old on our regular museum/cinema/library visits and sitting in a cafe with him.having a snack while we read a book together. And gigs
