To not see the point in Body Shop At Home?

A few people I know have started doing this and it's endless FB posts of things you can buy direct from Bodyshop (and get better offers!). I don't really see how they can call themselves businesses either? It must be a scam!

My friend did BSAH for a while. She put her heart and soul into it and hours and hours of time. She lost £3000.

I dutifully attended her parties and spent £15 each on body butters. She told me they are the best ones around as they have a high boiling point or something.

I now buy nearly identical body butters from my local pharmacy for £1 each.

BSAH and indeed all MLM 'independent business owners' are nothing of the sort. They are unpaid sales reps who end up alienating their friends and family.

I love it as I get to try loads of products and drink wine!

Lol at the 'area manager' post above....I had a 'friend' who got sucked into flogging Younique...within days she'd been promoted and was yellow status or some other crap...god do these idiots not see how ridiculous they look.
This is happening on Bodyshop at Home! Shock

THIS one is a friend of a friend on facebook, but her profile message is there to read..

So last night within my Body Shop at Home journey, my status as consultant changed to AREA MANAGER.
This does not affect my personal life, I'm still a mum, and a wife...
This can be done along side your day to day life.
I will now look forward to ... A bonus and a pay rise.

The work put in surely does show. But this couldn't have been done alone, I have an incredible support network around me, the right guidance within the team I am apart of.

I now have my official team called xxxxx who are all smashing it.

Confused

She has put these pics along with the post... I have blanked out any identifying details of hers. She has a 'downline' of 9 now, who are 'beneath' her, and the line 'something magical is about to happen' is just cringeworthy and a bit chilling to read, (because they are so brainwashed!)

As I said, utterly brainwashed. It's all batshit, and disturbing to witness...

That's AWFUL. Sad Your poor friend.

I use BSAH because it’s convenient. Live in the countryside. Work at home, or in a different location every time - never town centre. Even when we can travel, I literally have to go 20+ miles out of my way to find high street shops. I know I could order it online, but, I can text my friend and a few days later she drops off whatever I’ve asked for, a bit cheaper than it might be otherwise, no postage costs.

She says it pays for her children’s music lessons. I have no reason to disbelieve her. She’s invited me to one or two parties. I havn’t been. Nobody minded.

lulujuju · 05/03/2021 20:08

I made the mistake of buying a Mother's Day gift bag for my mum from a Facebook friend who sells BSAH and now I'm getting daily messages asking me if I want to become a rep and if she can post on my wall. I was just trying to be supportive as she has two children and doesn't work but now I feel a bit conned!

Bluewavescrashing · 05/03/2021 20:11

I love it as I get to try loads of products and drink wine!

I'd rather drink wine at a friend's house without the sales pitch and pressure to buy. The products are overpriced and the natural ingredients claims aren't true. Supermarket fruity shower gels are just as nice and 1/5 of the price.

Littlegirlplustwo · 05/03/2021 20:20

I love the body shop stuff. The foundation is great and the right tone/ thickness for my skin, I’ve been using it for years after discovering it at a body shop party and it’s the only one I’ve found that doesn’t irritate my skin. I also like the rose range, the vitamin E and I love all the fruit body butters. It’s not to everyone’s taste but I’ve always really liked it. It’s affordable too.

Saying that, I usually just buy online as there is always a discount code. Back when I lived near a body shop you would always get a freebie and great service when going in so I’ve never bought from a local person.

If it worked out cheaper with postage/ discounts I would though.

Honeyroar · 05/03/2021 20:46

I’ve bought a bit from my friend’s BSAH this year. Mainly when the actual shop was closed for lockdown. He doesn’t push his sales at all. I asked to be added to his page. He posts when things are on offer. That’s when I buy. It’s cheaper than paying postage online (it’s only free over a certain amount online). Another friend used to do it. She was great for giving me freebies for my charity auctions.

I like the Vit E moisturiser, the body butters, mascara, shower gel.

This. ^ I hate this kind of shit, when I'm invited to someone's house, for a get'-together,' and you get overpriced, overrated crap pushed on you, and feel obligated to buy it.

I have actually given these kind of people a wide berth now, and have no time for this kind of stuff at all...

Sadly, it does seem to be largely young mums who are the target, and who seem to be the most gullible. As I said, these women seemed quite smart and savvy, but it seems not as much as I thought... They're falling for the Bodyshop at Home bollocks 'hook, line, and sinker...'

NiceGerbil · 05/03/2021 21:15

Not RTFT.

it's an MLM isn't it.

Anita must be rolling in her grave.

FFS body shop.

Indeed it is @NiceGerbil. It was Anita’s decision to start the MLM business back in 1994 and to sellout to L’Oreal.

Sean in Corrie is involved in a beauty pyramid scheme at the moment...hopefully it will put a lot of people of joining one in real life.

Cutesbabasmummy · 09/03/2021 07:37

I'm not a fan of MLMs. However I think BS products are better than Younique and Herbalife. I have friends doing these and it's as though their minds have bern taken over.

Thamigumathacharaid · 09/03/2021 07:43

My hairdresser does BSAH and it works for me. I like certain BS products and it works out cheaper than me buying it in the shop plus she delivers it to my door. There's also no pressure on buying anything so I'm happy to buy.

SavoyCabbage · 09/03/2021 07:58

Don't use it then.
Brilliant. That's that all cleared up then.

There has been a definite surge in MLM in my area since the first lockdown.

I used to buy the Body Shop's body butter as I like the way you can get it all out of the container. Since the JK Rowling hoo-has I've moved on to a marks and Spencer's one.
