Ovarian Cyst - Bloating

Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody on here has experienced bloating due to ovarian cysts? I look like I could be pregnant and this is all day every day. I am usually a size 6 and am 8 stone, but I've had to go up a size. Does anyone have any remedies to help the bloating?

I don't want to scare you but are you sure that it is definitely 'just' cysts?

A friend is waiting for major surgery hsving finally cracked when she could no longer comfortably do up the two sizes bigger than usual work trousers she had bought to cope with the bloating.

It turns out to be a large and growing tumour that is now impacting on her bladder and there may be secondary tumours.

We believed it was bloating and encouraged her to try changing her diet etc to help - now we would all give anything to go back in time and get her to request a referral from her GP a good 6 months before she finally did.

Hi there, thank you for the concern but I'm pretty sure it's just cysts. I was only at the hospital on Monday and had an ultrasound and that's what the radiographer said they were!

I did. As soon as the cyst was removed, the bloating stopped

Radiographers are not doctors or consultants. I thought they werent allowed to tell you a diagnosis just take the pictures. I had an ultrasound and was told one thing by the radiographer - it was not correct.

Yes, awful bloating, particularly when I had one each side.
They've both gone on their own now, and good riddance!
Don't panic or assume the worst.
I've had two recent scans and the radiographer reassured me both times that they weren't looking cancerous.

Radiographers know the difference between a cancerous and non-cancerous cyst otherwise, you wouldn't need to attend uni to be a radiographer if you just scanned people without knowing what you're looking for. My doctor has got in contact with me now, about my cysts, nothing different than what the radiographer told me. Obviously, I will always take the advice from the doctors but I think you've just had a bad experience with a radiographer.

I'm so glad to hear this! I got a letter from the doctor with results saying as they think it's due to ovulation I'm getting another scan in 6 weeks. Although my bloating has been for over a year now? Every single day. Going to phone for a phone consultation tomorrow and hopefully, the doctor can see if it is only cysts that I'm bloating with. Did anything help with your bloating? How long after did the bloating leave?

Yes, I had this before I knew what it was, then it burst one evening and it was so painful.

Aunthe · 04/03/2021 14:53

Hi OP, do mind me asking, have you had much pain with the cysts? I have had pain i area of right ovary for two weeks now. I'm definitely in perimenopause but this is new and odd for me, so went to the doctors today. When examining me it rather hurt and shes sending me for a scan as suspect poss ovarian cysts. I'm not bloated though (we agreed the roundness was lockdown fat, not bloating Blush), just dull achey pain. Doctor seemed suprised no bloating. I'm not sure what to think.

Ladesiderata · 08/03/2021 20:58

Hi OP, mine was with ovulation, so for two weeks out of four I would have EXTREME PMT bloating, huge boobs, pressure on bladder, achiness. Then it would disappear and I felt good for two weeks.
As I am 50 the gynae has offered to give me Injections to shut the ovaries down. Symptoms have eased, and I m still ovulating and not remotely menopausal, so I'm gonna try to hang on with medical ovary shrivelling. It just sounds too gross....

Literaryseed · 08/03/2021 22:08

I had a 10 cm ovarian cyst removed and, 6 months later an 8cm one. I didn't have bloating with either.

Just wanted to share my recent experience on this topic...
One evening I all of a sudden has excruciating pain in my side and loser back, so much so I was having to pace around the house and when the pain hit my hip it may me vomit. The only pain I can relate this too was labour but without a break at all... ended up in A&E (without anyone due to COVID which was hard!) the only pain relieve that would touch the pain was liquid morphine and than only took it away for 1hr, it was truly scary and awful... so after 12 hours of severe pain and sickness I had a CT scan which the surgeons said showed a ‘large mass’ by my pelvis so when down to the gynaecologist for further scanning. Likely they topped me with with the morphine before going down! After a lots of internal probing they identified two cysts measuring 10cm on my right ovalry which they suspected had weighted down the ovalry and possibly twisted. They said that I was going to be taken down into surgery next! That was a bit scary as never had an operation in my life but I needed the pain to go or I felt my heart would just give up, it was so bad. Went back the AAU and prepped for surgery. Was taken down about 8pm for the operation and there was a delay as an emergency in maternity. So after another couple of hours in awful pain watching every second on the clock in resus finally at 10pm an out of hours surgeon was bought in and did the operation! I woke up in resus... no pain!! So the next day I was told that they managed to drain the cysts down and that the ovalry was twisted 3 times (which I assume was the pain?) they untangled everything and tested blood flow and seemsed ok and drained the cysts through keyhole surgery and have a follow up appointment in a few weeks to check how everything is...
What I don’t know if do cysts not just come back over time? I can’t go through this pain again! I did say they should have taken it all out but they didn’t want to. Does anyone has similar issues and do cysts come back?
