Anyone else in NI think tonight's 'announcements' were bullshit?

I've been pretty easygoing this last 6 months but was actually looking forward to some info and decisions being roadmapped. But there was literally nothing of practical use in this big bloody announcement. What a waste of energy.

@Rutennotou

There's to be a review every four weeks, first on March 16th I believe. Current lockdown continues until April 1st so ideally we will move onto the second step then. Then the mid April review onto the next. Completely dependant on numbers though. I've been very patient the past year but failing to give a fuck now.
I'm not even sure that's what they mean about the reviews, like are the dates for announcements? So the new phase will take place the next day? Struggling to make head nor tail of the document tbh, so much being said without saying anything at all.
SoLongFurlough · 02/03/2021 23:31

Can't see the next phase taking place the day after the announcement as surely businesses need time to plan for reopening?
This speculation is why we need the bloody dates!

It's extremely confusing and fails to answer quite basic questions. We've a daughter moving into a new home next week, none of the homeware shops are open. She ordered items from John Lewis, they cancelled due to Brexit. Other items were ordered from Dunelm who cancelled and refunded her due to Brexit. She's now reordered from them as they decided they would take orders from NI. I'd hoped that we'd at least have a date when basic things like pillows could be bought in a shop.
My son has now changed his wedding date three times and doesn't know when to change the date to.
I appreciate there's no certainly but perhaps if the grand release of the roadmap had coincided with some relaxation it would have helped.

Rutennotou · 03/03/2021 00:19

It'll not be the day after reviews when things open again. For example this review on the 16th March might mean we move into the next phase on April 1st when this current lockdown ends. Then the review in mid April could mean moving into the next phase in May etc. So businesses will have notice.

Buying stuff is a pain in the arse at the moment. I'm almost 33 weeks pregnant and have hated ordering practically everything online.

Yes, I laughed out loud when I read the "news". Does anyone in these here parts know if P1 to P3 are getting a straight run until Easter or are they out for the week before Easter? P4 to P7 are back after Easter? I would like to be able to answer my children's questions.

Camelliawatch · 03/03/2021 08:01

It sounds such a cliche like ‘Im not sure I’m coping’ but this endless staring into the void is just so hard to handle psychologically. My career is utterly fucked. It’s freelance and depends on me having significant time on my own to concentrate on stuff, so that’s obviously laughable. I thought it would be better when we had women leaders, but they obviously couldn’t give a fuck about us.

Yes to the week of ‘home learning’ before Easter. Why the fuck, nobody knows.

Zero date at all for return to school for anyone else. It is an absolute dereliction of duty, a disgrace.

Caiti19 · 03/03/2021 08:32

Well thanks for confirming. I was starting to think I was just out of the loop, what with Google Classroom, Seesaw and my actual day job swallowing up every last morsel of mental energy. But no, it's a genuine void of info. I've missed nothing.

letsgo2021 · 03/03/2021 08:46

I get more frustrated the more I think about how much they've let us down. How they can get away with this is just beyond me. Going on and on yesterday about it being a day of hope, they are honestly deluded. Or else masking the fact they know rightly not a single one of us felt any hope seeing that map yesterday. The cheek of them. Morale of the entire population of NI shot straight down the drain as soon as it was announced. They should be ashamed of themselves, not fit to run the country.

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 03/03/2021 13:43

It's weird how that gave us nothing at all. Not even something small that will happen in the next month. They can't possibly think they are not sending back primary kids on the 8th at this point so they should have committed to that at least. Lazy, weak leaders. They should be ashamed.

Totally agree OP. And I’m particularly worried that furlough has now been extended until September. Hmm to me that suggests they don’t expect schools to be fully opened til then.

Yay - looks like we have some dates!
