Hello everyone,

Thanks for taking the time to read this and to anyone who shares their thoughts.

Some time ago I agreed with DP that we should purchase a log cabin to replace the shed and trampoline (pic attached). He has a big workstation with three pc screens and it has been squeezed into our living room for the last year where the kids play etc and sometimes things get a bit heated. DP isn't going back to his office so will be working from home from now on.

The cabin we have on order is within regulations so no planning required but the more I think of it, the more of an eyesore it might be when installed as it is 4.5m x 2.5m and will be a tight fit. I have checked with both neighbours and they are happy with it but I have started to really worry.

We have tried to move house twice for a bit more wiggle room but it hasn't worked out so this seemed like the next best thing to give us more space and ease pressure at home. Now I think we are making a mistake but DP has got quite cross about the U turn. He has already started kitting it out in his head - with gym stuff (which is taking over our living room currently) and a TV etc.

Sorry if this seems a bit insignificant but it is really worrying me. I don't want to upset him, but it is a big building and £3000 so feels like a big decision. Having recently lost two grandparents to C19 I don't want to cause a huge row as emotions are running high as it is.

Thank you for your time.

It's a brilliant idea. No objection from neighbours. More space in the house. Space from each other. Literally perfect, I think you're way overthinking this.

I think it’s genius and you can always make it look pretty on the outside with lanterns and bunting. Maybe seating area?

I'd build it myself to get all that shit out of the house and get rid of a
trampoline to boot!

We have a stand-alone garage which is connected to the house alarm via WiFi . It's alarmed when the ground floor is alarmed. There are probably lots of security/motion sensors you can get.
Stick an Alexa in there and you can even message him without leaving your nice sofa!
