@OnlyHerefortheBiscuits My DS is 3 (sorry if I said 1!). But he is loving it and shouts (not sings, I think that’s a testament to my playing) and keeps referring to the old guitar hero as a violin now so I think he’s pretty interested. I’m tempted to buy him one and see if I can get him to join me in lessons.
I’ve had a few music note lessons in the app I’m using. It does feel like I’m trying to learn a whole new language, but it’s only giving me the notes I need to play! Thank you for all your encouragement though! It really makes it feel doable and exciting still!
That's fantastic! Even if DS wants to learn another instrument even..... Music facilitates wonderful friendships and social life for kids and adult learners alike.
Another poster said about she wasn't sure if learning the piano starved off the breakdown or if it was the breakdown 😂 I can imagine that! People often find over time they reach for their instruments when they are happy, sad, angry, hurt, grieving, excited, relieved, elated, .... Over time it really then does become an old friend!
I beg you to not be discouraged by your sounds in the early days - it is perfectly normal and that's where it starts for everyone who ever learned; nobody gets out of starting at square one hehe! Bowed strings take some perseverance in the beginning which it sounds like you have bags of!! 👏🏻👏🏻 Xx
(also the great thing with bowed strings is that if you'd like to join local orchestras those sections are never full and they'll always take more violins, cellos etc...)
