To ask my neighbours to stop meowing out of the window? (Lighthearted I think??)

We live in a suburban terrace of 4 houses with a small garden. DCat likes to roam said garden and neighbouring gardens with his many local cat friends.

Yesterday I heard meowing and went to investigate, expecting (clumsy) DCat to be stuck up a tree or on a conservatory roof.

Instead I find neighbours next door but one leaning out of their upstairs window doing their best, quite accurate, cat impressions, no hint of irony. DCat looks baffled as does his pal, a local tabby. Neighbours seem to be attempting to lure cats over to take photos of them.

Slightly weirded out I went back inside.... only to hear them still meowing several hours later - and again today????

When I went into the garden they waved at me politely and then carried on meowing.....

So, WWYD?

YABU - it's a free country and they can meow at local cats if they like
YANBU - they're bonkers, keep poor DCat way from them

I talk to my cats and ask how there day was and if they had any exciting adventures, I realised I am mad though when the next door neighbour who had been sun bathing (unknown to me) peered over the fence and commented he was a beauty. I now ensure I am not in the garden and all windows and doors are firmly shut before having our talks 🤦‍♀️

@DobbyTheHouseElk

Love it. Checked it wasn’t me. No I don’t live in a terrace.

Sounds like most people on the thread did a quick mental comparison of the OP's neighbourhood with their own street!

SnotLongTilEaster · 27/02/2021 18:40

I think it’s the people who don’t talk to cats that are barmy!

Slub · 27/02/2021 18:45

I have two Maine Coons who chat a lot but don't meoww. Instead it's all muuuuuuuum or raaaaaaaaat so I spend my days asking 'where's the rat?' Or ask your other mum Grin

MadinMarch · 27/02/2021 18:57

Tell 'em that if they don't stop meowwing, you'll set the feckin dog on 'em.

Haha some cracking replies here thanks folks, you've made my evening.

@HeckyPeck yes!! Weird right?

To be fair we are very lucky and they are otherwise lovely neighbours but I'm a bit concerned they might be a cult....

To those asking, I am currently trying and failing to post a photo but will keep at it! He's a right grump but a pretty one 😁

@BreatheandFocus 😱 That's awful! I'd have kitty trust issues too!
