My dd is 13 months old and she's just started walking. She's so clumsy and always falls over etc. Earlier she was in the living room and she tripped over a toy and she bumped her head. I feel so awful, she cried for a few minutes but the was ok

I don't know what I want from this post but I feel like such a bad mum

You're not a bad mum OP. All kids get bumps especially when they're just finding their feet, think of it as a learning curve

My DD is 3 now and has had too many falls to count. But she is absolutely fine, happy and healthy and honestly, the more it happens the less you're bothered by itGrin

Please don't stress

Honestly, there isn't a toddler on this earth who hasn't fallen over and hurt themselves when learning to walk.
It's completely normal - please try not to feel bad.

Please don’t worry about this!!! I have 3 kids and always when they were younger- and now really tried to guess their next move to protect them. Things happen sometimes that you can foresee!! It’s part of life, sometimes kids hurt themselves no matter how much you’re there and try to stop it!!! Give yourself a break seriously!!! She is fine!! X

You will have far far more bumps over the next few years.
I have three. We have been to a&e over the years for a fractured leg (1 year old), fractured wrist (3 year old), broken collar bone (2 year old), bad bump on the head (2 year old). Children have a accidents.
A child tripping over a toy is not your fault, how could it be? So why do you feel like a ‘bad mum’?

LittleLadyCece · 25/02/2021 21:58

You're not a bad mum please don't worry. The very fact that you are worrying about this shows your a good mum!! When they start to walk there a bumps galore! My daughter's used to have so many bruises it would make me worry someone would say something!! Its just natural your DD will get more steady on her feet in time.

DramaAlpaca · 25/02/2021 21:59

It's normal, they all do that. It's part of being a toddler.

Quit4me · 25/02/2021 22:00

Your not a bad mum! Accidents happen and kids do fall over. Keep an eye on her a d pop in during the night to check she is ok. I’m sure all is fine and it won’t be the last bump she gets. Kids get lots of scrapes and knocks, it’s part of being a child!

This happens daily to DS. On Tuesday, he fell over at nursery while out for a walk and has a massive bump on his head. On Wednesday, as his key worker was asking if he was okay after the bump, we both watched him walk headfirst into the frame of the door and bump his head again in exactly the same place.

S2 went for about two years with at least one visible bruise.

(HV said it's the less visible ones they tend to worry about Sad)
