She has never camped, hates sleeping out, loves home comforts etc etc but her mates are going and apparently it will be brilliant. I have no experience of it at all. Who else has let their younger teens go? Were they ok?

Reading has sold out OP?
Blimey. I am so glad I bought ds a ticket yesterday.

PracticingPerson · 26/02/2021 06:59

If I had unvaccinated people in the house I would feel concerned about them passing on covid after this personally.

Will she have to test before going?

BigSandyBalls2015 · 26/02/2021 07:35

It’s August bank hol weekend so surely everyone will be vaccinated by then 🤞

TheMoth · 26/02/2021 07:36

I feel so old. Think I got my first reading tickets from hmv. And you could still get them on the way in!

I was 17. Lived on salvation army soup, wheetos and dry blackthorn cider for 4 days.

PrimaDina · 26/02/2021 07:38

@PracticingPerson under current projections everyone over 16 will have had an invitation to be vaccinated by the time of the festival at the end of August, so the OP's DC may well be vaccinated, never mind tested.

I think take-up in you get groups is expected to be lower, but if your dad has had a vaccine that is less of an issue then.

I thought it was over 18s!

PracticingPerson · 26/02/2021 07:42

FFS, dad = dd

PracticingPerson · 26/02/2021 07:42

You get = younger

My niece went when she was 16, after her GCSEs.

She hated it. She's now reluctant to stay anwhere that hasn't got an ensuite bathroom and somewhere she can plug in her hair straighteners.

ShaunaTheSheep · 26/02/2021 08:38

Mine are all seasoned campers, happy to rough it for a few days. Actually because Reading is in the town they pop out for cooked breakfasts and to use the pub and supermarket facilities (and A&E in my DS’s friend’s case - broken wrist set and straight back into the fray!) so it’s pretty civilised.

Miljea · 26/02/2021 18:41

I'm rilly, rilly old- and can't believe you're too old for R or L at 21! 😂😂

That's both bloody funny- and a bit sad....

Loopyloututu2 · 26/02/2021 18:47

I have actively encouraged my ds17 to go to Leeds festival after the year they’ve had (apparently it’s crap though and he’s going to Download instead!)
I want them to grab every opportunity and have fun.

MumofSpud · 26/02/2021 18:47

Last night DH surprised me by saying he thought going for the day was ok for our DD (Year 10) but by the time I had told her - she was in the virtual queue anyway Hmm- the tickets for Saturday had sold out!
So she's not going now - I am waiting now for the next argument Sad

Oh god. She's one of them. They were always shit at festivals.

Oblomov21 · 27/02/2021 06:13

Loads of ds's friends got a message to say their tickets had been cancelled. I don't know what's going on but this is not good.

Have they bought them this week?
ShaunaTheSheep · 27/02/2021 09:58

That’s worrying.

Abraxan · 27/02/2021 11:23

18y Dd has booked for Leeds with friends.

She may well have had her first vaccine by them - isn't BJ saying end of July for all 18+ adults. All of her friends are planning on having the vaccine. To be fair I only know of one person who isn't (and he's already eligible as group 4 but he's fallen for all the FB rubbish) so not sure if the younger age group will have lower numbers taking it up or not.

She'd also be happy to take a test to show she's negative beforehand. Her and her university friends have had to do tests to come home, go back, etc and secondary school students will be really used to taking tests by then if doing them twice a week for school.

Fuebombaa · 27/02/2021 16:50

@DropDTuning calm down 😂
