To be worried about a constant high heart rate

Longjohn33 · 24/02/2021 18:23

Here is an example of my daily heartbeat on my fit bit. During my sleep it will go down to 60s but during the day it seems to be in the fat burning area for a large part of the day.

The peak is a long walk I do then I come home and sit at my laptop for most of the rest of the day.

Is this normal or cause for concern?

I am 28 and a size 8, small and petite naturally.

Looks like you are unfit - nothing to do with being a size 8. Everything to do with cardiovascular fitness. How long is that 'long walk'? Doesn't look even like a full hour.

Do you do at least an hour of strenuous exercise every day? If not you need to increase what you are doing.

vodkaredbullgirl · 24/02/2021 18:26

Your heart rate is normally higher when you exercise.

gamerchick · 24/02/2021 18:27

I agree, it just looks like you need to up fitness or take some iron.

TheWaif · 24/02/2021 18:28

That isn't out of the ordinary high.

Longjohn33 · 24/02/2021 18:28

It depends really, sometimes 30 mins other times 1.5 hours. Just depends on what I have on and how much time. If it’s just down to being unfit then I’m not concerned as I can improve that and am working on it but just worried it may have indicated a problem.

Honestly, that does not seem to be a high heart rate. It's not a low heart rate either, it's about normal in the population.

Of course, if you are worried then you should go see your doctor. Do you have high blood pressure?

PhatPhanny · 24/02/2021 18:32

Please don't take medical advice from here.
There is enough there for you to warrant a chat with your gp and a check of your heart.

Im so unfit and could walk up a steep hill and not get my heart over 130.

BitOfFun · 24/02/2021 18:33

You should definitely speak to your GP rather than the Internet!

Jumpers268 · 24/02/2021 18:36

My resting heart rate is 80-85 but that's only because I'm so incredibly unfit. The other day mine said I was doing a cardio - I was putting washing away. Haha. When I'm doing a relaxing walk it's normally between 120 and 140. However, if you're concerned definitely speak to your GP.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 24/02/2021 18:36

Does a short part of the walk involve a steep gradient? A number of things can affect your heart rate so that might be fine for you.

I've deconditioned during lockdown and my resting heart beat has shifted from 48 bpm to 56 (my blood pressure has also increased to @ 94/56).

Watsername · 24/02/2021 19:52

It doesn’t look dissimilar to mine. I would consider myself reasonably fit. I cycle for an hour a day and can run 5k (not regularly). I am in fat burn for most of the working day - TA in a school.

sparklefarts · 24/02/2021 19:56

Here's mine.

I'm 33 and 15st 8lb though, so would expect it to be higher.

ghostyslovesheets · 24/02/2021 20:01

it's not high

FelicityBob · 24/02/2021 20:15

It says your resting heart rate is 70. That’s normal

poppycat10 · 24/02/2021 20:18

It looks ok to me. My heart rate is quite high, and goes quite high but it can be about 130 on a bike ride and I am not remotely out of breath and can chat normally to someone else on the bike ride, it's just normal for me. When I am running hard it is about 170. Walking is about 110.

My resting heart rate is somewhere between about 62 and 70 depending on where I am in my monthly cycle.

tigerbread20 · 24/02/2021 20:18

It looks fairly normal but if you are worried please get a GP appointment and they can do an ecg

LunaHeather · 24/02/2021 20:20

Do you feel okay?

Were you worried before you saw this chart?

LunaHeather · 24/02/2021 20:22

I should add, I've only seen stuff like this while holding sensors at the gym

I can't remember what my norms are as obviously gym is shut but this kind of wearable tech is going to create a lot of worrying about nowt.

Berightback · 24/02/2021 20:25

Mine gets like this every month or so, yours doesn’t look high to me

Talk to your GP?

Mumdiva99 · 24/02/2021 20:29

Here are 2 if mine.....one from when gyms were open and kids at school and then one from now......

I don't think you need to worry.

The NHS information is similar to this:

Your heart rate is the number of times your heart beats per minute (bpm). A normal heart rate is between 60 and 100 bpm while you’re resting.

www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/how-a-healthy-heart-works/your-heart-rate

Do you have any symptoms? Would you have known if you weren't wearing the tracker? Is your tracker known to be accurate?

Zerrin13 · 24/02/2021 22:43

All these trackers and fit bits or whatever they are called has made many people obsessed with their bloody heart rates!
I had never had mine monitored until I was 50! It never occurred to me to even wonder what my heart rate was. A resting heartrate of 70 is completely normal. Shortness of breath and dizziness or chest pain are more of an indication that there is a problem if heart rate is fast aswell.
