AIBU to use WeightWatchers like this?!

So, I've joined weightwatchers. I've been given an allowance of 32 points a day to use. As far as I'm concerned, I can eat whatever I want as long as I stick to the 32 points.

So, for example Breakfast is a 500ml can of sugar free energy drink. 0 Points.

Lunch is a packet of Pom Bears and Two Mini Egg Cakes. 13 Points.

Dinner is Ten Quorn Nuggets and Reduced Sugar Ketchup. 9 Points.

Then after dinner is a packet of french fries crisps, a cadbury caramel cake bar, a mini milk ice lolly and a twister ice lolly. 10 points.

That's my 32 points. Will I loose weight like this as I've stuck to my points allowance?

@CremeEggFan

I have actually failed and left Weightwatchers. I just don't think I'm quite ready yet.
What do you mean, failed? Hasn't it been like 2 days?

If you have stepped on the scale and been discouraged, you should know that healthy weight loss is gradual, and also not always obvious because weight fluctuates with water weight.

If you have 'failed' by eating over your points, everyone has cheat days or times when it isn't kept to religiously. It is a long term thing and one day isn't going to be the end of the world.

I don't do WW but I do count calories and I think you should stick to it a little longer. It isn't easy but you can do it!

Must be a 'joke' thread.

I would agree, judging by your posts. Hmm
FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 26/02/2021 12:45

Is this a tongue-in-cheek post basically making a joke of WW? If so then YANBU.

However if you seriously think this is a healthy, well-rounded diet then YABU.

What do you mean left? It’s only been a couple of days. Yesterday was better than the day before.

Only weigh yourself once a week.

Try to add veg (any veg) to your lunch and dinner, if some of this is green all the better.

If you eat tiny meals and loads of crap you will be hungry and more inclined to eat more crap because you are hungry. Add complex carbs and veg.

Keep a food diary. You can look back and think of you could do anything different. Do you need 3 ices? Could you space them out snd just have 2? Could you try semi skimmed milk? Or 1 spoon of sugar on your breakfast? If you change something you may not enjoy it to start with but within a couple of weeks you will find you have got used to it. I can’t put sugar on weetabix/cornflakes now but always used to.

Everytime you go to grab a snack, think if you are thirsty and have some water first. Sometimes I find this gets rid of the craving in the moment.

Take it a day at a time. If you mess up, start again at the next meal.

Good luck.

Oh dear OP. you sound very flat. I really do think that starting to switch to healthier eating is better done before drastically cutting your calories

You must have been so hungry eating what you posted you'd eat. You didn't fail because there wasn't a chance that you'd have succeeded with that 'diet' and maintained your health.

Have you tried fasting, ie. eating within a short window each day and not eating the rest of the time. I do this, lost quite a bit of weight and it's stayed off, 2+ years now and counting. It's not hard and that drive to eat is just not there now.

I understand why you wanted to eat those things, that's what your tastebuds tell you your body wants, but it really doesn't want that stuff, can't function with it in isolation of nutrients that it needs.

Try something different. Thanks

picklemewalnuts · 26/02/2021 13:49

It's not something that happens all at once, @CremeEggFan . It's not like a pass and fail test. It's a gradual switch from unhealthy habits to healthier ones. It's not a once only opportunity- you can start again whenever you want- even right after a bag of crisps!

What do you want to do now, OP? Perhaps try a smaller change- eating a wider variety of foods would be a really good start, and you'll feel much better for it.

Also, you may want to take probiotics. Gut flora can have a big influence on what you eat.

CosmicVagina · 02/03/2021 20:57

How are you feeling OP, I hope you been able to have some positive meals x

GoLightlyontheEarth · 02/03/2021 21:00

This is my issue with slimming clubs. They don’t teach healthy eating. They don’t retrain people to go for a wide range of fresh foods in small portions. It’s nonsense.

Whostoblame · 02/03/2021 21:35

You'll end up with scurvy and probably insulin resistance leading to T2 diabetes as very carb/sugar heavy. Hair will probably start to fall out, terrible skin, no energy, starving all the time, look like crap. But hey, you'll be skinny(ier) Envy ( not envy) and I say all this as a fat person, not as a judgemental "skinny" one. Educate yourself. James Smith is very good. Lays down the facts in a simple (and sweary) way. Also has calculators online to help you educate yourself, for free. My fitness Pal is free to help you log your food.

Whostoblame · 02/03/2021 21:39

And take it one day at a time. It's not easy to lose weight its a very mental process as well as a physical one. If you slip up and have one bad meal or one bad day don't let that throw you off the general course. You wouldn't drop your phone on the floor and think, well the screen is cracked now I might as well stamp all over it and smash it up properly. losing weight is not a linear process, start by making some small changes, one or two a week and go from there Flowers
