AIBU to have a coffee? What if I want one? Surely that's ok?

DustyMaiden · 21/02/2021 15:31

Afternoon is for tea not coffee unless you are American.

Wotrewelookinat · 21/02/2021 15:42

Step away from the coffee. My need is greater than yours.

Can you not make your own decisions?

1forAll74 · 21/02/2021 16:00

You are allowed to have a cup of tea though.

PearlclutchersInc · 21/02/2021 16:18

Everybody and their granny's dog is having coffee here. You'd think coffee cups were surgically attached in some areas.

Batshittery · 21/02/2021 16:22

yawn

ChampionOfTheSun · 21/02/2021 16:28

I had a coffee just before 3pm todayBrew

TopTabby · 21/02/2021 16:29

Shaking & sobbing that you'd even think about this.

LittleTiger007 · 21/02/2021 16:32

It rather depends.
Not if you've had a couple already today and you’re pregnant. Not if you’re planning on having a social one currently.

It’s the afternoon ... have a nice cup of tea.

ConkerBonkers · 21/02/2021 16:34

The fact you are questioning this is unreal Just go no contact with the coffee maker. Do not allow your DC to have any contact with it. It has shown you what it is. Now listen to it. I went NC with my coffee maker. Best. Decision. Ever

Ok. OP has a newish baby. That breakfast question was posted at 5 to 6in the morning. OP is apparently loosely following Gina Ford.

Yes, @Psba, it's entirely fine to have a coffee. It is totally reasonable to want to eat breakfast when you have been woken up at an ungodly hour.

It is also reasonable to ask your co-parent to fetch you sustenance when you are stuck doing things with a small baby.

WoolieLiberal · 21/02/2021 16:45

Given this is Mumsnet, it depends...

The answer is likely to be one of the following:

  • Depends on whether it’s ethically sourced coffee.
  • Is coffee legal in your country?
  • Only if it doesn’t have real sugar in it.
  • No, because I can’t afford coffee myself. You’re so entitled and not living in the real world!!!

Or

If you’re one of the (few) men posting here, the answer is “when does your DP get HER coffee??”

If it was another parenting website the answer would be “Sure, hun. You’ve earnt it. Hugs x”

VanillaAndOrange · 22/02/2021 12:06

If you mean go out for a coffee, I wouldn't right now, even if it wasn't illegal.

If you mean just have a coffee, you sound as if you need one so go for it!

Afternoon is for tea not coffee unless you are American.

Or don't like tea...
