liposuction made me flabbier

I had a little bit of liposuction on my stomach as fat needed elsewhere on my body. AIBU to think that I’m sure my skin is ‘looser’ wobblier than before. I used to have a muffin top but it was ‘sturdy’ for want of a better word kind of thick firm fat and since lipo it’s like my stomach is all jellyish and has a flappy like thing instead of a muffin.

When you lose fat naturally the skin slowly ‘shrinks’ as yours needed to be removed quickly your skin didn’t have that opportunity. The action of the liposuction also temporarily seperates the skin from the underlying tissue, so it isn’t attached to anything directly under it.

If you aren’t on a diet your body will slowly replace the fat which means your tummy will return to its usual self. If you don’t gain the fat back your skin will slowly ‘tighten’ to a certain degree. Your body has been through some huge changes, remember you may look healed on the outside but inside your body is still repairing for a long time.

I did not know this either, OP.

My God, I'd never tire of slapping some of the posters on here.
Hope you're ok, OP Thanks

Have some people read what the op has said? She didn't have lipo because she wanted to lose weight!!!

Sorry op, it must be a shock Flowers

My neighbour did get a referral to remove the loose skin after her masectomy on mental health grounds. If it really bothers you your GP will make a referral and it should be straight forward due to the reasons behind the procedure.

You’ve been through so much OP, hope you are recovering well.

roundtable · 21/02/2021 08:56

I was going to ask if you could be referred for skin removal. Must be really upsetting after all you've been through. Flowers

As for the critical previous posters - you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Give it some time OP. You know you how awful everything looks after any surgical procedure, but your skin might shrink back nicely over time and look great. Sorry you've been through all this and I hope you have a good recovery Thanks

Mellonsprite · 21/02/2021 11:29

Be kind to yourself you must still be healing, it sounds like you’ve really been through a lot.

Vallmo47 · 21/02/2021 11:32

Flowers for you OP.
Some people on here are such wankers!!!
