Anyone sold up and rented before buying new place

Wondering if people done this? My vendor pulled out just as about to exchange. Buyer still wants to buy. I can see pros and cons. Want new address for school place.

I know this thread is a few months old but I am now in this position! Our chain went from three to seven 😳 with the fourth person lying constantly, telling us they had an empty house to move into and thought they could buy another property and no one below them on the chain would notice 😡😡😡 this only came to light the day before exchange. I am so stressed . Our buter is threatening to pull out. We are living out of boxes atm so would rather just sell, keep the money and move in with parents until the chain is ready.
Did this affect anyone's mortgage ? I'm worried that we won't be able to get a mortgage again and won't have anywhere to love. It's scary being a home owner and then not!! There's no need to worry really because we had no problems this time but I am a worrier!
