Is landlord out of order moving our things?

We're moving out of our flat next weekend and agreed that our landlord can show people round yesterday and today.

The place is absolutely spotless and most of our things are packed away. We popped out of the house for every viewing yesterday, and we reminded the landlord that windows should stay open during viewings, he was quite surprised by this. We got back from one of our walks to see him rearranging our plant pots outside.
Once he had gone we realised he'd closed the windows, adjusted our blinds, moved the shower and moved some of our things around; eg my little ones ride on toys in his room, and took his chair out of the sitting room and placed it in his bedroom and moved the only remaining bath toy from the window ledge. He also moved or masks which were hanging on our door. It's also obvious people are opening cupboards.
Is it unreasonable to ask him not to touch our things during viewings today?

You don't have to allow viewings at all if you don't want to and can tell him today is cancelled, he can show then around next weekend once you've moved out.

Moltenpink · 20/02/2021 11:45

Surely you can’t leave the house empty with the windows open though?

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 20/02/2021 11:48

Just stop allowing viewings.

Was the landlord wearing gloves? Probably not, so use Covid 19 as a reason to cancel all viewings until you have left.

I suggest you also make it very clear that no charge for cleaning the property once you have left should be made, and you should get 100% of your deposit back. If part of a letting or estate agency, tell them so in no uncertain terms.

Yeah I'm pretty relaxed about this kind of thing but I'd refuse viewings today because he clearly totally ignored your wishes.

murbblurb · 20/02/2021 12:10

if you are leaving next weekend he can wait until you have gone. void periods are part of the landlord deal.

refuse any more viewings. He can't enforce and no he cannot deduct from your deposit for this.

CodenameVillanelle · 20/02/2021 12:12

Cancel all upcoming viewings. What a wanker.

Felifox · 20/02/2021 16:12

I think it's reasonable to cancel viewings due to being unable to rely on him and viewers observing Covid-19 regulations.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 20/02/2021 16:31

No more viewings. Cheeky fucker.

2bazookas · 20/02/2021 16:38

I would just contact him and say "

" After the recent viewings we discovered that someone had been touching and moving our private property, intruding in closed cupboards etc. This breached our security, privacy, and covid protection regulations.

For this reason, we have decided not to admit any further viewings.".

Princessbanana · 20/02/2021 19:01

I wouldn’t be allowing him back in until you have moved out! What a cheeky fucker!🤬
