How do you find out someone's landlady details?

It's a private landlady.

I doubt I can access this information anywhere?

A land registry search will tell you who owns the property, and the landlord is usually the owner.

Ok thank you. I think there's a small charge for that info? I've never done it

Have you thought about looking on the land registry website to find out?

araiwa · 19/02/2021 16:41

Ask the tenant?

Eckhart · 19/02/2021 16:42

Why would you need to know? Can you not just ask them?

BrumBoo · 19/02/2021 16:54

It may not be the case with the op, but I remember considering looking up our old neighbours landlord in the same way. Once because of noisy workmen inbetween tenants and once because the neighbours at the time were vile, noisy pigs who kept destroying our joint fence and throwing rubbish over. I think someone else complained about the workmen as they stopped beginning their work day at 6am, and we caught a lucky break with moving with shithead neighbours.
LakieLady · 19/02/2021 16:56

It used to cost £3, @shoedogpk, but I have no idea how much it is now.

shoedogpk · 19/02/2021 17:00

@araiwa

Ask the tenant?
Can't do that!

All landlords in Glasgow need to be registered on the landlord registry just on the off chance this applies.

WonkyCactus · 19/02/2021 17:11

Yep in Scotland you can search by address to find the landlord on the register. Don't know if the rest of the UK has anything similar?

mumwon · 19/02/2021 17:56

be aware op that landlords might be interested in what you have to say & may even want to help but in many cases they don't have as much power as people think.
If your neighbours are doing something seriously unsocial - give them dates & incidences as much as possible - they MIGHT be able to do a section 8 (I think!) & get them out or threaten them with it but it can take months & even for this it will take longer than normal (I should think)
I would appreciate someone giving me the heads up but some landlords won't have their address on the register but their solicitors (if they live outside of the country)However not every landlord cares that much (daft!)
Alternatively -you could ring round agents & tell a little lie -like I have heard that such & such a property is going to be up for rent soon & I am really interested in it? Or I want to buy?
If its drugs or something of that ilk contact police & tell them its a rented property could they contact the landlord

Emeraldshamrock · 19/02/2021 20:31

Is there a PRTB board in the UK registration of rents? Or similar they deal with landlord and tenancy complaints.

Emeraldshamrock · 19/02/2021 20:33

@Selkiesarereal Same in Ireland.
Judging by some landlord/tenant threads England probably wouldn't there doesn't seem to be much protection for L or T.

happymummy12345 · 20/02/2021 19:49

I'm more wondering why you need to know?

happymummy12345 · 20/02/2021 19:57

But is the property managed by the landlady or does an estate or letting agent manage it on their behalf? Because if so it would be the estate or letting agent you would need to contact I'd say? Because they are working on behalf of the person who owns the property.

murbblurb · 20/02/2021 20:25

Land registry £3.

If there is a problem, landlady needs to know, but evictions are banned and the court backlog was colossal and is growing. So I hope there isn't a problem.

murbblurb · 20/02/2021 20:26

Oh, and if landlady isn't smart or is dodgy, the property may be registered to its own address.

Crankley · 20/02/2021 20:36

Oh do tell. Why are you going to complain about the tenant? What heinous crime have they committed?

murbblurb · 22/02/2021 14:39

Op could have a drug den next door. Hope not as the violence and filth will continue to eviction, possibly two years. And the tenant may be a victim too.
