To rant about clothes sizes, eBay and consumer guilt

I’ve just had a baby (she’s 4 months and my 2nd baby and I’m breastfeeding)

I have nothing to wear, I’m a bit bigger than I was pre-pregnancy but obviously not as big as I was during pregnancy so nothing from before fits me and nothing maternity. I also need easy boob access.

I decided enough was enough, life is hard enough without being uncomfortable too, but I don’t have tons of money to spend on this interim wardrobe (I lost a lot of weight after my first baby so may do so again)
I also don’t want anymore stuff, my house is full of stuff already.

I ordered a pairs of next jeans and a pair from
Monsoon in a size bigger, a denim dungaree dress 2 sizes bigger from ASOS and a shirt dress 1 size bigger from marks and Spencer all from eBay (cheap and feels better)

The difference in size is crazy! monsoon jeans are massive, next jeans are snug, ASOS dress (2 sizes bigger!) is very snug to the point i took it off in frustration.
The dress from M&S is absolutely tiny, easily 3 inches 2 small on the bust!

I’ve recently bought a coat from seasalt in this size which fits fine so I don’t think I’m way off size wise!

How can the sizes be so wildly different, what’s the trick for actually owning clothes that comfortable cover your body?

I’m now landed with more stuff I can’t use and can’t return because it’s eBay!

Is my only answer to order a pile of new stuff online and expect to return it? Just feel so guilty about buying into fast fashions

Measure yourself and then ask sellers on eBay if they can share the measurements of the clothes you're buying. Sea Salt clothes are very generously sized.

It is absurd but I've been caught out like this. I think the only thing you can do measure yourself and check using the stores online size guide to see which size you would wear in their clothes. It is frustrating but will save you this messing out in future.

I find Next and M&S come up larger than other shops so always go down a size with them.

There’s no uniformity across brands so size guides and measuring are best done when buying online.
