AIBU to think I've had Covid for a long time now?

So the news is now saying that fatigue and headache should also be considered as signs of Covid. But I've been a mother for almost 21 years now and seem to permanently been fatigued or have a headache - does this mean I have long Covid?

Just don't. Everyone's gone through enough.

I thought the same thing when I read fatigue - I don't remember the last time I wasn't tired, 23 years ago perhaps, pre children

Crakeandoryx · 17/02/2021 18:11

Well that's every parent in the country needing to be tested weekly 🤣. I'm bloody knackered and have been for months.

I'm not trying to belittle Covid - just making a joke. Its not the same as Covid, but have had full on flu the 2nd time almost lost a kidney. However as someone with chronic asthma but 4 kids whose lives I will not destroy by banning them from school (when they are finally let back) being able to laugh is all that's keeping me going!

Equally a lot of my friends are nurses and I know already what they think to this latest report. Test centres will now be inundated! I agree that fatigue and a headache might be a slight sign of Covid, but as my post highlights it is also symptomatic of many many other things!

You’re clearly a trendsetter OP! Grin I believe with this particular strain of covid, you need to be isolated in a luxury hotel room away from children, with a full Netflix/Amazon prime account and free room service. It’s tough, but it’s the only way. Wink

Oh yes - bring it on! Someone once said that even prison seemed appealing on the harder days! Grin

I know this is a joke, but just wanted to say, my covid fatigue wasn't just being tired, it was sudden, overwhelming waves of no longer being able to stay awake.

Whichjab · 17/02/2021 21:22

I once read a beautiful piece in, I think, woman's friend. It was written from the perspective of a woman who had accidentally poisoned her mil and had landed in jail. Her husband wrote to her saying how the whole family had realised it was a genuine mistake, but she replied that she was going to admit it as it turns out prison was easier than looking after the home.

I agree, unfortunately those who are asymptomatic might be getting away with fatigue and a headache. The truth is we need to do far more mass testing - door to door - but that's as likely in this country as the Pope converting to Judaism - hope that's not offending anyone - getting slightly neurotic now!

The fatigue i experienced during Covid was nothing ive ever experienced and ive done the exhaustion of a non sleeping child. However that isnt to say it was worse. It was totally different. I could barely move, i described it as feeling like a blanket i was so flat. My legs wouldn't carry me and i just lay in bed. I wasn't sleepy though if that makes sense.

SpringtimeBluebells · 17/02/2021 22:59

GrinGrin... I've had it for years then...was probably the first if tiredness is key
