To find my robot vacuum pleasingly eccentric?

Okay, spoiler, I'm not but still!

It's currently hoovering downstairs - I started it while I did upstairs and the beds. I'm now downstairs and it seems to be following me from room to room rather like a cat who wants a pat but refuses to ask! And to be fair, its beep when it gets wedged over the rug precipice is very amusing!

I have no clue what cleaning program it runs but it seems (although it is thorough by the time it is done) somewhat random in its choice of route.

I suspect lockdown is getting to me... ConfusedGrin

Ohhh I might get one. I'm sold.

JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority · 17/02/2021 12:28
Grin

I really want one. my cat could do with a new friend.

MatildaTheCat · 17/02/2021 12:31

Can it transition between a thick rug and a wooden floor? And wiggle round tables and chairs? Or does it beep piteously half the day like an electronic cat?

So many questions

AlCalavicci · 17/02/2021 12:31

Grin mine always seems to want to vac that spot just under / between my feet and sneaks up behind me to do it causing me to either shift out of his way , stand on him or worst trip up over him .

He is great and I would replace him if he ever broke but for the love of god SHIFT !

44PumpLane · 17/02/2021 12:32

Rosie (the Robot.... My Eufy) is brilliant. She gets referred to with human pronouns in this house... She's brilliant. Her hoovering is totally erratic but she just gets on with it while I'm working upstairs.

The only downside is that the dog is terrified of her.... I'm working on it!!!

DavidsSchitt · 17/02/2021 12:35

Oh she's brilliant. We love her and the kids treat her like a sister Smile

LabCoatPocket · 17/02/2021 12:36

Ahhh, we love ours. His (he is definitely a he) makes little alarmednoises when he gets stuck or gets full up, he alsosings a little 'Well done me' tune when he is finished. We got ours one of those Amazon Treasure Truck flash deals and it was still pricey with 40% off but I don't regret it. I haven't had to physically hoover anywhere but the stairs in three months. He is set to go out every other days, and twice a week we bring him upstairs and he tootles about up there. Just so convenient, and cute.

Blastandbollocks · 17/02/2021 12:38

Yes, mine (Eufy) can do about 1.5cm of difference (slight step into the conservatory) with no problem and is fine round tables. Maybe not as close as you'd get with a proper vacuum taking the nozzles and ends out but as good as a normal upright.

Honestly, it's one of the best drunken purchases I've ever made. It usually gets bunged on first thing in the morning (it's quite quiet) to deal with overnight crumbs. It's not a deep clean standard but it does make a massive difference to how the house feels on a daily basis. Hoover on, windows open and it feels like you've achieved something!

One charge lasts me about half an hour on standard mode which is plenty of time for the downstairs (living room, hall, conservatory and dining room). Or upstairs if DS hasn't got the Lego out!

I talk to mine. Sometimes I make it have battles with the robot floor washer.

Blastandbollocks · 17/02/2021 12:41

Yes, mine is a he too - mainly due to the erratic cleaning route. And yes, I talk to it too. Blush

If you have not bought one by the end of the thread I would be surprised ! Grin

Don’t whatever you do watch the Life in Pieces episode about Joan’s robot hoover with depression. What makes it funnier,I mean sadder, is that she is is a psychiatrist who completely misses the messages it is sending out.

Very funny series if you haven’t seen it. Like so many axed too soon.

Sparklfairy · 17/02/2021 12:43

I want one just so this can happen Grin

I now want one 😂😂

Needhelp101 · 17/02/2021 14:09

I love mine! He's Robbie, even though he's a Eufy, because our previous one (RIP) was a Roomba and so was obviously named Robbie. All future robot vacuums will be named Robbie.

Talisin · 17/02/2021 14:49

We got our Eufy - immediately named Goofy - last Black Friday. We’ve stuck googly eyes on and generally talk about - and too - him as if he were a pet. There’s a bit of rug that he has problems with in the kitchen and he sends me a polite ‘Help, I’m stuck’ message on my tablet occasionally. The floors are certainly cleaner now but it’s the entertainment value I value most. Wouldn’t be without him now!

PeterPandemic · 17/02/2021 15:03

Ours is called Jeff. He's been a bit out of sorts recently, doing half a job and doing home after an hour. Then he succumbed to the Five Beeps Syndrome.

I've replaced his battery, his side brushes, and throughly cleaned all the other gubbins out and he's like a new man Grin He's back to full speed, pootling around for over two hours and picking everything up. And, a plus, something about the new brushes has made the cats terrified of him and he's taken to chasing them around.

8bitgame · 17/02/2021 15:12

We have one and I love him. He is called "Flat Cat" as he also behaves like some sort of cat with memory issues.

He is obsessed with hoovering under things like the sofa and the table which no one sees but seems adverse to hoovering areas that I actually care about.

I wanted a Eufy but there were no deals on and he's a Lefant which I think was a mistake as he is a bit rubbish but it's somehow really endearing.

Catflapkitkat · 17/02/2021 15:56

I want a flat cat.

IveMadeAHugeMistake · 17/02/2021 16:20

Ours is also called Jeff, and yes, yes, yes, he does seem to make a beeline for the kitchen as soon as DH starts cooking, very pet-like Grin

There's a room we don't allow him in because of the thick carpet (he can do carpet, but we prefer to use the upright in there for a few reasons and leave the hard floors for Jeff) - if someone acceidentally leaves the door open to that room, he is straight in there, it's like he's desperate to see what's in the secret room Grin
